IMO, this rises his draft stock. He seems upset by the situation, maybe it drives him to NA?

God I hope he goes before the Flames turn to draft. It pushes down a player we want, and it guarantees the Flames don't take a flyer on him.

That a boy "Nichy" keep this up.
See Carolina! he's as good as here, wouldn't he look great in a Canes jersey.
Don't bother taking Monohan or Lindholm with this jem availible.

Actually I don't think that includes today's game against the US... so it would be 7 pts in 5 games.

after reading those updates, I can't help but wonder...
this uncertainty will likely cause him to slide further. Teams with one 1st round pick will be leery. That suggests that he could slide all the way until either Columbus or the Flames takes him with their 2nd pick. StL is ahead of NYR at this point, so we need the Rangers to make final 4 and the Blues not make it.
Honestly, I think there is a chance he slides to our 2nd pick - still unlikely, but every story like this increases the chances

The prospect of drafting both Lindholm and Nichushkin should have a lot of people drooling. Thats a bonifide platimun sterling silver plated upper echelon center prospect and one heck of a RW prospect.
Lindholm/Nichushkin
Monahan/Nichushkin
= drooling

Tied for 7th with one less game played than the other leaders.
3 guys on his team and Connor McDavid are probably the only guys with better offensive numbers considering games played.

He talked with our Roman Soloviev at the U18's a few days ago (and before the news/rumours about him being traded). He said he intends to play out his contract in the KHL (again, this was before he apparently was dealt).
When he does come, it'll be to play in the NHL.

I really think it would be in the best interests of Florida, Colorado, Carolina, Nashville or Tampa Bay to take this guy. They'd be stupid not to snag him up AQAP.

That right there I why, if all else is equal, you don't take the Russian.
He is basically saying, I am a good player - too good for the AHL.
That may (or may not) be true, but what does not even occur to him is that maybe he needs to learn the NA game.
Too many Russians (not all) are mercenaries that rely entirely on their skills and don't understand (or care) that it is a team game.

If you were in his position, you would not play in the AHL either.
So dont judge others

What a ridiculous comment. Players are trying to make the NHL, where they will be paid millions. Teams are trying to win.
The attitude of the players is vital to the process.
If I had the chance to play in the NHL, I would do whatever was required in order to make that happen - including playing in the AHL (not to mention also demonstrating to the team that I do not think that I am bigger than the team)

Players like Brodie and Baertschi were extremely pissed to go to the AHL and they weren't criticized...
Nichushkin is a level above them and he doesn't want to play in AHL so he is stereotyped as a "selfish Russian".

I wouldn't say he is a level above them.. The guy has never even played a game in the NHL...
I understand both arguments about the not going to the AHL but it makes sense in his point of view as why leave the KHL top league in russia to play in the AHL. They just get the stereotype because it is common of them but it does make sense in their best interest

Yes exactly.
Why would you choose to make like $100K instead of $3M simply to prove to your team that you are too good for a lower tier league if you know that you are too good.
It's not being selfish, it's being true to yourself. If he came to the NHL and didnt produce then you could make the argument that he isnt good enough for NHL.
That's like your employer telling you to take a low salary in order to prove yourself when you know that you are worth much more....you would never take the deal.

It reflects poorly on the player. If an NHL team wants to send you to the AHL, it's normally because they think it would be beneficial for the player to work on aspects of his game. It's a developmental process.
It's not about what you have done in the past, it's about what you can be in the future. It's about making YOU the player, the best that YOU can be.
Nichushkin just comes across as a spoiled prima donna with comments like that. He thinks he's already better than he is, which means he's unlikely to recognize faults in his own game to correct them and improve. Great players identify and accept their weaknesses and work on them, they don't hide behind their strengths. Sidney Crosby takes every summer very seriously to improve on the weaker parts of his game, where now, there aren't really any weaknesses at all.
HOpe the Flames stay away. With all the good players in this first and second round, I don't think I'd even want him for the Flames with their late first rounders.

No one says you should be happy, though I would have described them both as more disappointed than pissed.
Regardless, they both went. And they worked on their games and now they are better players. Any player not willing to do this is, yes, selfish and I don't want them on my team.
Question robaur: have you posted in any other threads? I am curious as to why you are so singularly focused on defending, and praising Nichushkin.

There is a big difference saying you're upset to go to the AHL and saying you wouldn't go.
