Ouch. Russell Westbrook tears his meniscus, out indefinitely. Ron Ron did just come back from the same injury in 12 days, but obviously two totally different styles of player.

I don't see how anybody can beat this Heat team. They look just flat out dominant right now. Should be interesting to see what happens with the Thunder going forward here without Westbrook.
Unrelated, lots of rumors flying around about the Zen Master (and Brian Shaw) coming up north to Canada. I like Dwayne Casey but that combination would be a major upgrade.

You can't be serious? The guy is a terrible coach.

I don't think he's a great coach by any means but I think he was given a poorly constructed team. His in-game rotations/management have definitley been suspect at times but i still think he was given garbage to work with.
It's a little bit of a chicken/egg argument though so i can see the other side of the argument. That said, I still think the real problem is in the GM chair.
This is pretty hard to watch. Although like a car wreck you can't turn away. It's literally a D-League team against the second best team in the league.

No talk about Stephen Curry? Come on, I know Clay Davis usually only comes on here to trash the Lakers, but this Curry is quickly becoming the story this playoff season. I am a huge fan of the kid, and the way he composes himself during the clutch. Honestly at the age of 25 he might be the most exciting player in the game. I can't believe 5 teams passed over him in the draft (Minnesota twice!).
Oh and did anyone see this clip from Around the Horn of Bob Ryan going off on JA Adande about the NBA, and LeBron dunking on Jason Terry? Great stuff from a reporter who has seen better days in the NBA.

Hey I give the Warriors some love not too far back. I`m actually psyched the Lakers are finally about the be put down mercifully so we can focus on actual basketball teams who can win the title rather than the one the media handed the title back in August. And for as good as Curry has been its been former Raptor himself Jarrett Jack who`s been the difference so far in that series. Its been really the only entertaining series so far.

Nice clip, though I actually agree with Bob Ryan. He made the mistake of attacking JA Adande instead of sticking to the argument at all times, but although the dunk was nice, he was right - Terry at 6'2" wasn't guarding LeBron, so he shouldn't get tons of credit for that. I like that he never backed down either.
Given how much of a black sheep he was midway through this season, it's sort of bizarre that Gasol remains as the last man standing amongst LA's core. Probably bit of a blessing in disguise for LA that they're out this early, because free agency and the amnesty period are going to be coming up on them in a hurry.
As for Dwight, I can't see him staying. If he stays, it's a paper-thin roster with a still not 100% Nash, a oft-injured Gasol, Kobe out for months and possibly all of next year, an aging MWP, and few other effective players. That's a huge load for Howard to carry. They can't simply plan for the tank next year, as that would seem to be a huge insult to Howard in tanking a season of his prime. They can amnesty Kobe and move Gasol and try to do a quick rebuild around Howard.
But if they're willing to amnesty Kobe, their best option might be do then swing a double sign-and-trade with Atlanta and Josh Smith. I think that actually makes a lot of sense for everyone: Atlanta gets a great center and can move Horford to his more natural PF, Howard gets to play in his hometown, Josh Smith gets a near max salary he's craving from LA, and LA gets a guy who's pretty well-suited to a D'Antoni offense. Both guys get more money from the sign-and-trade than they would from straight-up unrestricted free agency. Only thing is those two are friends and would like an outcome where they play together, but scenarios where they end up in the same city seem less likely.
TMac is in, you know its over. As to Dwight I think you let him walk even though it means all you got for trading two 1st, two 2nds, and Andrew Bynum was an aging, injury plagued Steve Nash. Dwight is a man physically, and a 4-year old mentally. Unless you can vastly improve the shooters around Dwight, you can't compete with him driving the offense, he's too limited in what he can do and is too atrocious a free throw shooter. Lakers and Celtics both have very interesting offseasons ahead.

DW12 had never been an offensive force; he's adequate on the offense at best. His trump card was his elite defense which we may never see again. To get frustrated in a game like this proves how feeble minded he is. But still somewhere a lot of GMs in the league can't wait long enough to give him a max deal.
