Am I missing something with the oil change comment?

The last thing Feaster should be doing is trying to outsmart the system. Learn how to make trades and signings without ####ing up before you try to reinvent the wheel.

Oil Change=Bringing back people that didn't work the first time around. Oh please don't do that! Unless Darryl wants to come back as coach for some reason.

I have an extremely bad feeling that we are going to see a very impatient attempt at returning to the playoffs next season, which won't work (we have way too many holes to fill)

Jay Notes:

On Kipper: They will want to know before draft day on what he decides

On young players: They are not going to be up for trade

On the picks: Jay said that there are teams that will want to get a first round pick and that they will keep their ears open and listen. I didn't get the feeling it's something they're actively going to pursue/instigate though.

The Fan will be replaying the Feaster interview in the second intermission for anyone who doesn't have the tv broadcast, but can get the radio feed.

Said stuff about other teams looking to recoup 1st round picks that they traded.

Just seems odd to me to want to trade these 1st round picks down or for roster players. Why trade veterans for futures just to trade the futures for veterans...

He's saying that he might move some of the picks for young player in the NHL. Basically re-attempting to do the O'Reilly fiasco. It was stupid then and it's stupid now.

Flames have a lot of flexibility this offseason - in terms of cap space, willingness to spend to cap, and contracts

Keeping ears open for opportunities that may arise due to holding 3 first round picks heading into the draft

Ownership is committed to spending to the cap

Youth will not be moved in trades

Free agent market is weak compared to past years

Team needs to shore up the blue line, needs a center, needs more size, needs to be tougher to play against. Lots of needs

3 days of meetings after season ends with all coaches (including Abbotsford) to evaluate all players in the org from top to bottom

Would like to know Kipper's plans for next season by the draft

Tough year for Cervenka with the short season, health, and language. His fit with the organization will be evaluated along with all players

Almost threw up when Millions made "Oil Change" joke

Could have as few as 40 contracts at some point during the offseason, another part of flexibility

Owners still willing to spend to the cap... Interesting, that could be good, or very very bad.

+1

anyone who thinks Edwards and co. will patiently wait thru a proper rebuild while they have plans for a new arena is deluding themselves

they think they have the pieces to do a quick retool just as they thought they had the horses for a play off run

(forgot to add "intellectual honesty")

Feaster:

-"If" we keep all 3 of our draft picks. The ultimate goal is to improve the hockey team.
-They want young players, they refuse to trade our young players, and they're going to be active in the trade market.
-Will try to be active in free agency but acknowledge that it's weak
-They expect Kiprusoff to give his decision by the draft. They're signing Ramo after July 5
-We're in a unique situation of having a lot of cap space but also an ownership that has the money and is willing to spend to give us flexibility.
-Wouldn't tip his hand on Roman Cervenka's future
-They'll look at compliance buy outs but we don't need to use them

We really needed MacKinnon this year. Who knows what management will do next year to finish 9th.

No problems at all with Feasters interview. I got the feeling the other two first round picks won't be used unless a team in cap trouble is willing to part with a great player. Which is a possibility.

From Feaster comments I think the trade market could be very busy i.e the moving of Tanguay or Cammy or any other vet.

I won't be too excited for free agency day. Doesn't sound like they plan on being very busy in that department.

Goaltending stables will be very full if Kipper stays on next year.

They want to go out and get some D and a center with size still, same old same old.

Good on Roger Millions for asking the tougher questions. Pretty standard answers on most questions, though the lawyer speak doesn't sound very optimistic on Cervenka.
