As happy as I would be to walk away from the draft with Jones, I think I would offer him up to both the Panthers and the Avs and see if they will give up their 2nd round pick in order to secure him. Ideally the Panthers would jump on the offer in order to prevent the Avs from taking him. Then we can pick MacKinnon and have another pick at the 31 mark from Florida.
Of course this is pretty much a pipedream from the 7th spot. If we could get back into 4th then that would double our chances of winning.
That is my dream scenario.

I can't see Carolina taking Lindholm, they already have the Staal brothers, more likely they'd take Nurse or Nichushkin.
Skinner has seen a bunch of time at centre as well. They seem pretty set at centre. I wonder if Carolina might not looking a trading down? Seems like they could drop 2-3 spots and pick up another asset.

I wouldn't mind trading up with them to secure Monahan or Lindholm as long as it didn't cost us too much, their 1st for our 1st + a 3rd or 4th I'd be fine with, but if they don't plan on taking a center anyways I wouldn't want to give up much if we were to trade with them.
I want MacKinnon. Unlike everyone else, I won't be happy "settling".
That said, Monahan and Zykov are two players they have a legit shot at based on their current position. Throw in one high end defensive prospect, and I'll consider it a solid first round.
Going to painful watching MacKinnon don another team's jersey, though.

I haven't seen much of Lindholm other than a 3min video on youtube. But if he's projected to be anything or even close to Peter The Great, i'm all for drafting him. I just hope he also plays with a chip on his shoulder and isn't injury prone.
In all honestly, I'd have to say Mackinnon is a closer comparable to Forsberg than E.Lindholm. Mackinnon certainly isn't as physical as Forsberg though. The skating and strength on the puck in that video is just unbelievable, thanks for sharing.
If we can move one spot ahead of Edmonton, I wouldn't mind drafting Nurse just for the hell of watching their reaction.
Is the Oilers org. salivating about Darrell Nurse or something .....?

I see very little similarities between MacKinnon and Forsberg.
I could care less about which position a player is, IMO it's BPA.

How could it not be, we are shy an elite prospect at every single position so there is no pressure to pick based on position.
Walter Reed is an Oilers fan. They have drafted centres at #1 and #6 overall, wingers at #1, #1 and #10 overall. They haven't picked a defenceman in the top 15 since Plante (likely bust) with only Klefbom as a legit top prospect on defence. So them taking a defenceman seems obvious to everyone except Oiler fans apparently. Not like Nurse doesn't have a pretty huge upside either.
I would laugh if the Oilers take Nichushkin. Building from the wings in lol.
