Lindholm is better than Zibanejad.
I don't see Zibanejad ever being a number 1 C, but he could be a very good number 2.
Lindholm could be that number 1 IMO.

Comments like the bolded really make me scratch my head. Doesn't that apply to almost every guy? We already see a prospect in Tie Domi who could be a top 10 pick if he was 3 inches taller.
If Mackinnon (sp?) was 3 inches shorter he would be a mid to late 1st round pick... I'm thinking you shouldn't be using that as a reason for saying why a player is likely to bust or sets off a red flag.
Some guys will be blessed with extra height or cursed with a less than ideal stature but it's always going to be something you'll have to take with the rest of the package. Pointing out where they would be if they were x inches taller/shorter seems moot.
Though I am also guilty of also daydreaming what a sudden miracle growth spurt would do for Gaudreau. 6'2"? *drool*

I didn't get a chance to watch much of the World Juniors this year due to being out of town so could someone tell me what they thought of Lindholm's play? There's a lot of difference between seeing a player play and watching highlight videos. Noticed he got 4 points in 6 games

My point is that his performances don't yet match-up to the skill package. Scouts project onto these guys that they'll develop into something better than they presently are because of size, etc. The Flames under Sutter were guilty of this often, taking the big guy over the more talented guy because they project potential onto the big guy (Pelech, Chucko, Neimsz).
I'm fine with breaking 'ties' by using size, but I don't want to overdraft a guy just because he's big.

Then, they'd have to grab Max Iafrate to complete the trifecta of sons of former NHLers named Max.

Lindholm shows shades of Forsberg with his physicality and tenacity.

Nurse looked pretty good in the prospects game to me. Big, very mobile, strong, mean d-man. Looks like he'll be a beast when he fills out.
Wasn't able to get a good gauge on his offense based on the one game but reportedly scouts are liking his development there.
How many times have you gotten to see him Pete? I know you're Ontario based.

Lindholm + Baertschi = relentless puck pursuit.

I remember thinking he looked pretty good. I'll have to check the PVR to see if I deleted all the Sweden games or if I still left one on there.

I don't know about you guys, but St Louis looks very strong to me....If I had to predict a West Final, I'd go with the Hawks and Blues...., and I'd certainly pick the Pens out east.
In that scenario Flames 2 other 1st rounders move to the bottom 4 of the draft....perhaps not the end of the world....but it would certainly be better for us if they both missed the final 4.

Flames first pick i hope they select based on needing Skill, Skating, Strength, Size. They have to hit the mark with this pick. No projects no going off the board.

Hard to count on any teams being in or out at this time Red, playoffs are never so predictable.

That is the thing these top 7/8 guys are all good enough that you will fall in love with them from watching highlight videos.
The thing I do like about Lindholm though is it is not neccessarily that the highlights are impressive due to flashy plays but due to his sheer tenacity.

Really depends on second round matchups.
Based on current standings if St.Louis does beat Vancouver they then have to face Chicago in the second round.
As much as I like St.Louis I don't think they beat Chicago, or L.A. in a 7 game series, and thing they will be in tough against Vancouver.

Yeah its not too pleasnt in the Western confrence bottom four teams. The prospect of facing any of ANA, CHI, VAN or L.A is pretty sketchy. St.Louis looks to be the best of the bottom four but there is certainly a separation between the two groups.
St.Louis could take out Van but I do not see them going much further than that.

I think it might be better for the Blues to finish 5th and have to face the Kings, than 6th and face the Canucks.
I would take the Blues over the Canucks in that series and have big doubts on them beating the Kings.
So we lose a draft spot or two if they lose in first round but gain a better chance of them losing in the first round if they finish 5th instead of 6th.
Would also be nice in the scenario if 5th/6th weren't seperated by a Eastern team so the pick would be basically the same.

Not all that often. The Sault home games aren't televised that often on the package you can get with Rogers for the OHL games. Just a bit wary of him. He did put up a solid point total and it wasn't like he was getting full power play time on that team with Sproul and Miller outscoring him from the backend.

I think the ideal situation would be to maybe try doing the following.
If the Flames end up with the 6th overall pick in the draft.
Then use the 6th pick to draft Lindholm.
Then trade Cammalleri + STL 1st rd pick + 2nd rd next year for 7th overall pick.
Use the 7th overall pick to draft Nichushkin.
Going forward, you have a top line of Baertschi-Lindholm-Nichushkin
Damn that sounds way too good to be true. #OneCanDream
