Wait, how is your answer in number 2 making you look like an idiot? Seems like a perfectly appropriate response.
Now if they'd said "My wife just got hit by a bus" and you followed up with "Not too bad" you may have a bit of explaining to do.

Ok, maybe my example wasn't the best but you know what I mean. Maybe I do just need to pay more attention to what people say to me, but I regularly answer those casual conversation questions wrong if they don't follow what my brain anticipates. I guess I'm just self absorbed.

I solve this situation by not ever caring enough about how anyone is doing to say the words "How is it going?" or "How are you?"

Breast milk Toonie bar is a pretty good idea.

If I am out somewhere and take a really huge dump (the kind where I'm afraid to flush) and there is no toilette brush to break it up with, what do I do?

A) Flush and run.
B) Don't flush and run.

I usually blame it on a ghost.

I use the 'start-the-flush-while-dropping-the-deuce' method.

Some back story:
I had a friend have one of these weddings, and the date was a week after our due date for kid #2. No problem for kid #1 to spend the day/night at the grandparents, but we asked about showing up with a newborn, and were told "no".
I couldn't help but feel that was completely ridiculous, and as a result of not going I have one less friend of facebook (he de-friended me). So stupid.

Had a kid free wedding myself - it was at a winery and weren't able to accommodate kids for a bunch of reasons. It's a slippery slope - one person shows up with a newborn, and the next person goes "Well how come they got an exception!".
Bottom line - some people want kid free events. In your situation I think you just tell them your situation - "Can't make it due to newborn, sorry". Send them a nice card and all should be well.
We had several people opt out for this reason and we completely understood. Just be sure to acknowledge their wedding in some other form - be it a card or something else. While you might have had your "big day" a number of years ago, it's in the now for them and you should still try and acknowledge it somehow.

How can you have the traditional Wedding orgy if you have a bunch of kids running around.

I guess I find the "kid free" wedding thing kind of sad because some of my best memories as a child was getting to go to weddings (especially the big Italian ones on my moms side). Meet lots of people, have some food and desserts, and get to dance and have a blast.
I can understand location reasons (like yours I-Hate-Hulse), and cost for others. But when I see a wedding being hosted downtown at the Hyatt (mega-bux) with a family that can more than afford it I don't understand why they put the restriction on there.
Guess I'm floating into "gear grinder" territory on this.

Leave it. Once it exits your orifice, it's no longer your problem.

Blame it on the twins (TV reference that I hope someone gets).

Kid-free designations got us out of 2 weddings last year that would have involved travel. I love them.

For me it would have nothing to do with cost or location. It is the brides and to a lesser extend the grooms day, if I don't like kids, kids are not invited to my wedding is reason enough. Saying that, I would not be mad at someone who couldn't come because they have a newborn.

Really? You have dumps so big you have to break them up before you flush? I just retched sitting here at my computer and probably won't eat for the rest of the day. Thanks for fata all!

So, out of curiosity, is there an age limit on this kind of thing? Like, can anyone just saddle up to this bar with a pocket full of toonies? What if I don't want any milk, but just want to play around with the... err... dispensers... a little? Is it only a loonie for that? If so, how do I find out which events offer these Breast Bars? Is there a list at City Hall? Should I phone them? Maybe I'll just give them a call... Is there a casual way to phone City Hall and ask for a list of events in Calgary that will be offering Breast Bars this coming Saturday? I wonder which department I'll have to phone... Oh God, I'm going to get someone in "Information" who's going to put me on hold for 30 minutes while he looks this up. Then I'm going to get transferred to the wrong department a few times. It might be faster to just go down there. I'm already downtown anyway. Oh wait, I forgot to pick up cat food yesterday, and that's in the exact opposite direction from City Hall. Dammit, I don't want to go all the way to the pet store and then all the way back downtown to City Hall again. It'll probably be closed by then anyway. Hmm, maybe I should call and ask for the hours for that department. Oh wait, I don't know the department... oh yeah, that's why I want to go to City Hall in the first place. Wait... why am I doing all this again? Oh yeah, boobs. Wouldn't be easier to just look at boobs on the Internet? Yeah, of course it would, what the heck am I doing? Hmm... ok... let's see... doo de doo... ah, yes... here we go... BOOBS! Nice! Ahhh.... man, what an awesome idea it was to go looking at boobs right now. I needed that. How did I think of that? Oh yeah, Calgary Puck! Haha, damn that site is awesome. They always have the best ideas there...

Same here. We moved here 8 years ago and have been invited to a few weddings 'back home' since. Not inviting our child, now 8 is a guarantee that we don't attend as the couple should know we have no child care options to make for child.
