Hah! Exactly. What are you suggesting Bagor? A simple bad job, or bias (whether caused by favouring one nationality over another, or bribes)?

At the end of the day, not everyone can be Howard Webb and open the door for the team you prefer...

I am not suggesting bias. That's for you conspiracy nutters at RAWK.

I'm suggesting a combination of incompetence and inexperience of dealing with big crowd games. It's not that the individual in charge is from a third world soccer nation but UEFA's insistance that ALL 6 officials be from the same country. You won't convince me that there are 6 world class officials from Hungary with experience in big match, big crowd games.

In the case of the Muller blatant interference I think that is simply a case of the referee bottling it in front of the home crowd. The foul was so obvious that there is no other explanation. A strong linesman would have helped there. That sort of miss right in front of him AND the linesman is inexcusable.

Also, although Gomez was fractionally offside there was enough distance and time between him and the passes to allow that call to be made. The linesmand was looking straight up the line and Gomez was offside for a period of time. Same with the handballs. The first was a clear cut penalty right in front of him. The 2nd imo was no penalty but to be fair he was unsighted also.

But ... hey good job with the Howard Webb reference. After all if it wasn't for him Liverpool would be champions now .......... amirite?

Refereeing this CL has been substandard.

Bagor seems to think that if Refs arent from a major 'Footballing Country' then they're incompetent. 'Third World Footballing Nations' as he deems them.

But Italian refs arent any good, and we know his stance on German refs, I suppose Spain is too busy sleeping to have a refereeing program and we all know Holland is far too small and remote to have good refs.

So it seems, in Bagor's opinion anyway, that if a ref isnt English then they're rubbish.

Except we see English refs get it wrong all the time, week in and week out in PL. So really, I guess Howard Webb has to ref every game in order to make Bagor happy.

And the rest of Europe can just GTFO because they arent good enough to carry England's jockstrap in the refereeing department.

They all suck!

We have to build robo-refs that cant be bought and see everything and process all of the data they acquire at the speed of light!

Then Bagor shall be pleased.

Provided that they're built by an English company of course.

Go Dortmund!

I have to write an exam so I'll miss the first chunk of the game. Expecting a 2-1 RM win here, would love to see otherwise

Be it Dortmund or Real, I for one am simply cheering for a competent display of officiating.

That's worse than cheering for Liverpool, they might actually win something in the future.

I'm getting a Foot Locker employee shirt and I'm going to get 'Atkinson' embroidered on the back.

it's size, they have always had issues with set pieces

their CB's yesterday were Mascherano and Bartha, without Pique and Puyol they struggle badly to corners

Actually it was Pique and Barta, Masch and Puyol are injured. Same deal though, they were just getting overmatched. It was size and aggression. Dani Alves basically never left his feet to defend a corner all game.

Guys,

Do you not feel the refereering has been sub-standard this CL?

I'm trying not to be biased, and for all intents I'm a fan equally of Bayern & Barca.

3 questionable hand-balls on Barca. Let's say 1 pk should have resulted.
1 questionable offside, 1 blatant foul.

So they're really looking at facing a 3-0 deficit with competent refereering vs 4.

Ultimately, the much better squad won convincingly. The referees did not affect that.

I think Klopp made an error a month ago when he said you stop Madrid if you stop Alonso (before knowing they would draw each other again)

gave Mourinho an idea and now he takes out Di Maria and puts in Modric which gives them two play makers, likely Alonso deep and Modric a bit higher up

Its generally about the same. Refereeing is never going to be perfect, and, like you said it didnt affect the outcome.
