I would cry tears of joy if that was our draft. Smooth skating defenseman + top line forward + a potential wild card in Petan. Sign me up! My only question is whether Nashville would actually pick Nichushkin. Could see Edmonton picking either Monahan or Nurse at that spot. Seems like a real plausible situation.

Also why has Lazar fallen so far? At the start of the year most people were pegging him to go top 10

Agreed, or take Klimchuk instead of Petan.

If we were to pick next and both Barkov and Lindholm was still there, who would you guys take?

Klimchuk should be our guy with the PIT pick. Calgary-born player, so he'll be happy to play here. As well, he's been playin very well on a horrible Regina pats team. Get a couple good wingers with him and he could develop into a very good centre for us.

I think Lindholm will be the better offensive player, but Barkov will probably be a better two-way centre.

After the Radulov fiasco I don't see Preds picking another Russian in the first round.

We can still make it into the top 4. Who knows, maybe even the top 3 if things go absolutely perfect.

Tampa needs to go 2-0-1 in their last 3. Nashville needs to go 1-1-0 or 0-0-2. And Edmonton needs to get two points somehow. Maybe to close out the season against Vancouver on hockey night in Canada.
If the Flames ice a similar lineup to tonight + Irving in net, Chicago and St. Louis should take care of their end of the bargain.

Scarey thing though is Saint loo and CHI will probably be resting up all their players for the Flames games.

OOT Board was good to us tonight.
Flyers have 45 pts and have 3 games left.
Buffalo has 47 pts and 1 game left.
New Jersey has 46 pts and 2 games left.
Calgary has 42 points and games against CHI and STL.
I think its safe to assume the Flames will pick 7th at worst.

Irving is so bad that it wouldn`t matter if their top players were resting. He needs to be put in net.

Flames pretty much secured 7th spot. One of Lindholm, Monohan or Nichushkin will not be bad.
In order for me to like the flames to take Nichushkin, the flames have to give him a question like " if we could secure your release from your KHL contract, would you like it?". If he says yes then he is probably pretty serious of coming over. Not that i think they could secure his release.
Even if they drop a spot it will be one of those 3.

Lots of potential to trade up or down between 5-7 I think. I really do believe it will be down to Lindholm or Nichushkin. Both will fill positional needs at C or RW (he looks like he plays RW more than LW) I am sure we will all be very happy with whom they choose. Monahan is in the mix as well as Barkov depending on how things shakes down.

I'm guessing he has a few teams in mind he wants to play for and will make that overt in interviews. Definitely will need to be a situation where he will come in and play a big role right away and I'm guessing where there are a couple other Russians. And no matter what, KHL will offer a lot more dough than what ELC max is so a roll of the dice.

We could pick 8th at worst if we finish 7th if a team in 8-14 wins the lottery.

This draft has the big three.. And Barkov seems to be very close to those guys at four... But after that there is a handful of guys who, when you look back at this draft, will wonder how they went, 7th 8th, 9th etc.
The Oilers are probably going to get a guy better then their last two first overall picks unfortunately.
