I'm sure there would be more fanfare if this was definitely his last home game.
Good for SC not rolling with speculation & conjecture like The Sun has done recently. Good journalism is based on fact, and in this case there is nothing concrete to say that this is Kipper's last season.

Sportsnet employee???? They dropped the ball - they could have said in possibly his last game - no way to defend their lousy coverage....

You mean just like Iginla when he stayed after the game to congratulate Linden on his career? Because even at that time Linden hadn't told anyone he was retiring, it was all speculation but still he got a standing ovation from the fans in Vancouver. Fans and local media alike have some sort of an idea where the player is leaning and with Kipper's contract and how family matters so much to him most of us don't see him coming back for another year while we rebuild.
Sportsnet is suppose to cater to these same fans considering the broadcast was "Sportsnet Flames" and honor the greatest goalie to ever to put on our jersey. They messed up, simple.

Man, at least there weren't torches & pitchforks, ala Vernon.
Iginla's trade was 2 or 3 seasons overdue according to many here. Don't sweat it.

Good (smart) journalism also pays attention to its audience. Whether or not Kipper has played his last game is conjecture, but these jerks broke away from what was a very special moment in the Flames' season. While the Flames TV audience might have a passing interest in a Chicago announcer's 30 year career, and another Gene Principe interview with Justin Schultz, this wasn't the right time to give us these gems of journalism.

I think the thing that makes it more annoying is that the games was on the sportsnet flames channel. Another three minutes wouldn't have hurt anything.

Good grief! If we get that we'd also have to get one for "could of", "would of" and "should of".....

Might be wanting to rethink that given Joey Mac's resigning this morning....

A big thumbs up to all of the fans at the Saddledome last night. The atmosphere was simply incredible. To quote one of the players from after the game, "I still have goosebumps".

I think my dad might have been one of the few that didn't know why everyone was standing and applauding during the last two minutes. When he asked, I just said "Kiprusoff".
It was a great atmosphere to be a part of last night. Kipper definately deserved that standing ovation.

I was already pretty drunk but yeah, went out after and got very drunk! They mail the cheque, said it could take 60 days but usually less than that.
