If true, then they'll pay a steep price for that, potentially. Who knows, maybe the 6th overall pick turns out to be the best player... No way of knowing where this goes.

I personally don't think any teams are intentionally losing.

I don't know how many souls Fletcher sold for that Smith OG in 1986, but it seems we are still paying for it.

our only chance to draft an impact forward since...forever and we're pi$$ing it away for what, so we can celebrate a few wins over Edmonton and Phoenix? you beat teams actively trying to lose, congrats.

While a lot of people here want the Flames to lose every game to guarantee a top pick, it's not what the players are going to actively try to do. Players are playing for more ice time, rookies are showing what they can to earn a spot next season, coaches are evaluating players in different roles for next year.

They're not going to stop trying just because the organization wants a top pick. The teams below us aren't trying to lose either. They are just bad and at the bottom for that reason.

I'm pretty sure Feaster and co are praying for losses as hard as anyone right now but you just can't go into a dressing room and ask a team to lose. Who would have expected wins with this group, its surprising everyone.

You can hope your team blows it up in favor of a rebuild.
You can see a silver lining in being in the bottom of the standings.
But, if you are genuinely angry at the team when they win a game, you are clearly one messed up fan.

hehe, I don't know about 'genuinely angry'... but I am hoping the 'wings come back and win this game.

Angry no, frustrated yes.

This team needs elite level talent that comes from a top 3 pick. The difference between the top 3 and next level looks to be going from elite to very good.

For the most part the guys playing in this game outside of Brodie and Baertschi aren't likely to play a big role in a Flames team contending so while it is nice to see effort the "benefits" of winning likely will have much less of an impact than an elite level player that we could select.

I get the attraction to the sexy top 3-5 pick, and would love to see MacKinnon here. There are still ways to make that happen even with the win. We have 3 1sts, make a package to move up if you think it is essential.
But complaining about a win is so fundamentally wrong to me.

Hoping for a loss and complaining about a win are not the same thing in my mind. I guess that is all I am saying.

I can't imagine any team moving down from top 3 for a late 1st round pick. Even a mid-first round pick would be a stupid move for them to drop out of the top 3.

A top 5 for a top 10 and 15-17? Is that outlandish, not sure. Throw in a vet, eat some salary. If there is only one way to skin a cat then we may as well give up now.

Its not like we are heckling them on the street or knifing tires after wins, it just kinda sucks when we win since we were so close its ok to admit.

Also All 3 of our firsts if outside the top 4 are not enough unless a team is super high on lindholm etc.

if you are not dressing Babchuk (you know the guy you handed an outrageous contract to) to play with Butler you are not doing enough as a GM

The GM doesn't choose the lineup, the coach does.

Why trade a potential star player for a downgrade to add a couple hail mary picks in the bottom half? Wont happen.

Feaster isn't the coach.
