The white supremisist angle is plausible, but the others don't really make much sense. The jihadist and gun nut would most definitely want to call attention to themselves because they want the attack to serve as a vehicle to send their message around the country/world. The pyscho would likewise want the attention because that is pretty much the point (to wit: the Unibomber). Really, the lack of someoene claiming responsibility defies logic to me.

Edit: actually, that isn't quite true. It only defies logic if there is a defined cause behind it. If the goal is simply to create fear and confusion, then silence is golden.

That top picture is them wearing those backpacks after the explosion, they are right under the finish line. People have speculated from their appearance that they were undercover security.

^^^^^^undercover security could be correct-ish. More likely DHS officers if so. Those are pretty much the DHS uniforms that I've seen (they visit our production site on a regular basis). The DHS likes them some beige Khakis, beige shoes and black tops/jackets.

I don't know why two people would show up in exactly the same clothes unless they were wearing a uniform.

So far the bearded man looks like the only potential suspect to me. Even then, he just looks like an akward middle aged guy. Probably wore a fanny pack well beyond the early 90s too.

Not really.

They could contain first aid kits. They might also need their own provisions for an entire day. They might not get significant breaks.

I don't think any of the people circled are the perps, something we don't know is when each photo was taken but apparently the ones wit the bearded guy were from ~2 hours before the explosion


There is a strong chance that that guy just chose a terrible day to look like the uni-bomber and carry his backpack funny.

Jeez I said it was unlikely; don't get your panties in a bunch. Sure it's not practical or sensical, but neither is setting off two bombs in the first place.

There very well could have been others involved, or other devices that the bombers had planned to detonate.
