Didn't like what Burrows did, but what I think happened was:

Burrows saw Backes and Ballard jousting with each other and was just going in to grab Backes like anyone would do. It looked to me that he had already committed to grabbing Backes before he realized that Ballard was dropping the gloves. You can kind of tell by the look of Burrows he realized that maybe he should have just let them go at it.

That's just what I think happened.

And it's the same damn teams. They should all be embarrassed.

I come here for hockey talk and enjoy the community. Me being a Canucks fan is hard enough on the ego, can't I stay for the harassment and have some fun along the way?

How was it not a Boston marathon joke? You mentioned the Boston marathon specifically. Granted, I don't actually GET the joke...

Burrows was not third man in because he did not enter the fight. There was no fight, first of all, because he grabbed Backes before there was, and he did not fight - he didn't drop his gloves, it was just a wrestling match. The reason it doesn't make sense he'd get 4 minutes is that all he did was grab the guy. It's a roughing minor, but if you watch the replay, he didn't do anything terribly egregious (and couldn't if he'd wanted to, holding Backes from behind, who is much stronger than Burrows). So I am just as puzzled as Garrett. Not that it ended up mattering.

I suspect Backes was cut by Burrows's glove, or his own helmet.

They're far more interested in banning people that swear or reference illegal streams of games than someone who makes a joke around a tragedy that happened yesterday that has already claimed the life of an 8 year old boy.
