Hearing Lowe brag about all his rings, does anyone else think Lowe just might be Champion?

If I were the Oilers, I'd be dangling one of Yakupov, RNH, or Eberle in a package for Shea Weber. I guess Eberle plus for Weber would probably get Nashville interested, plus their salaries are in the same ball park of one another. Edmonton would have a steady presence in the backend for years to come.

I hope the Oilers put a string of wins together to get close then lose their last 3 in a row finishing 9th. Push themselves out of a greater chance to win the lottery pick and break hearts in Edmon-hole since their fan base seemed to think it was funny the Flames missed the playoffs by 3 points the last couple of seasons.

So is Howson MacT's boss since he is a VP or does he report to MacT?

The reaction from the media in Edmonton has been pretty amazing. Kevin Lowe is used to having them circle the wagons in his defence. Now he's looking more like Caligula about to be assassinated by his own guard.

great statement ! That was outstanding when he got lippy about his Stanly Cup rings something like only 1 other player in the NHL has more i think i know what it takes to be a champion or something stupid like that.
I guess he has no clue of the history behind the Montreal Canadians.
Lowe is such a tool. Keep him hired forever Katz.

1. Couple thoughts on today. Kevin didn’t interview any other candidates, just gave Craig the job. Tough optics in this situation……

If that's the case dissentowner's comments about not being able to puppet master Burke are bang on. Can't look good on Lowe, especially considering how they just dumped Tamby, Renny, Pat Quinn.

The funny thing is that Lowe seems genuinely off guard that the media and fans wouldn't be singing his praises after this move. The people running that organization are so full of themselves.

Weber>>>>Eberle. They'd need a hell of a lot more to get Nashville's attention

I was surprised Lowe got that defensive on the question. It looked very unprofessional. Was it a tough question? I guess so, but one that everyone saw coming and he should have anticipated and prepared for. All the reporter asked was how he expects to the current mess that they keep talking about it's the guys in the room who created the mess in the first place.

Depending on where they finish this year, Eberle and this year's first could be mighty tempting IMO.

The only reason Lowe has rings is because he played with Gretzky, Messier, Kurri, Anderson, Coffey and Fuhr. He was a good player, not a great one,

Sort of an odd dynamic where he appears to both over-value and under-value his contributions simultaneously to those cup rings.
The Oilers could definitely use a few Kevin Lowes on their team right now. Unfortunate for them that they have Lowe the arrogant meatball administrator and not Lowe the player.

That's a terrible deal considering what the Preds would have got if they didn't match the offer sheet from the Flyers. I would caution that Eberle while a talented player isn't going to carry a team on his shoulders and if the Preds deal Webber they better be sure they get back more than what they would have recieved from the Flyers by not matching the offer sheet and Eberle and a 1st isn't that. Plus I don't see Eberle flourishing on a team like Nashville without a lot of supporting talent. For Weber I would ask for Eberle, Oilers 1st round pick in 2013 and 2014 which would make it similar to what they would have got from the Flyers.
MacTavish can talk all he wants about making big moves but you have to give up a lot to get a lot.

I really think that the Edmonton Sun needs Eric Francis. They need him badly, because he's an idiot so he'd fit right in and talk the same language at Lowe, and he genuinely enjoys going to war with GM's.
I would have loved to see a member of the press act a little tougher like
Edmonton Oiler press conference.
Kevin Lowe - "Blah blah blah rings, blah blah blah I know about winning.
A reporter stands up wearing an ill fitting suit thick glasses and a fedora, he has a name tag that reads Clark Kent. He taps his pencil nervously and then raises his hand. Kevin Lowe nods his head graciously, another peon to the fire.
Kent- "Yes sir you do know winning as a player. In your time as a coach and an executive, which is 13 years, you've missed the playoffs 9 times, been bounced in the first round 3 times and had what's starting to look like a flukey run to the finals."
Kevin Lowe looks angry - "What's your point"
Kent - "well like Lex Luthor you have a ridiculous bald head and always seem to lose, you seem to brag a lot and have no real results. yet you always seem to come back, do you have pajama parties with the Oiler's ownership, our readers want to know. did I mention that your hair is just ridiculous"

Craig MacTavish
The term "Craig MacTavish" means to have unprotected sexual intercourse with a girl. (ie. sexual intercourse without your "helmet" (a condom). Craig MacTavish was the last North American professional hockey player to play without a protective helmet, having signed his first pro contracting just before helmets became mandatory for all new players. The term was founded by the students of the Pharmacy Department at the University of Toronto.

This is exactly what I was going to suggest. Maybe even another body like a Hartikainen or something.
And while my first thought was that Nashville would be unwilling to trade Weber, I would think that their current position in the standings would cause them to reconsider. The thought of two top 10, probably top 8, picks this year, plus Eberle, plus two 1sts next year, would be enough to get them to move their franchise player IMO.
And I think that would be a great deal for Edmonton.
