Slow as hell. Really good release. Thats about all I noticed. Would have liked to see him throw a couple hits with his size.

I know it's early and all but I think Hanowski is going to be a fan favourite. Here's hoping he's here for a long, long time! I'd give him a B+ tonight--not bad at all factoring in everything. His personality so far is an easy A+.

Happy for him that he scored, I just hope the media doesn't go all "Baertschi" and all "Backlund" on him. He's projected as a 3rd liner? In a year or two we'll have a better idea.

I'd actually like to hear some thoughts on his first game too since I had to miss it.

Not sure judging him after one game is a good idea. I will chock the first game up to nerves and not knowing where to skate and the speed needed. Glad he got his first goal, but if he does in fact end up skating like he did tonight for the rest of his career, then i highly doubt he will reach 50 games in the NHL.

I see an Art Ross trophy, a Pearson, 2 Rocket Richard trophies (one shared with Ilya Kovalchuk), 2 Olympic gold medals and a long playoff run to game 7 in the Stanley Cup finals in this guy's future.

Goal on his NHL debut. I suppose you can't ask for more.
We'll have to see more of him though to make a better judgement.

Rick Tocchet was mean.
Hanowski looked big out there and got to the right spot for his goal.
He has to really work on his skating and he has to throw a hit on his shifts as well.
Pretty good first game when you score a goal.

Nice comparison! His skating is sort of like Tocchet's. If he could skate a little more hunched over and have a little more wider stance it would be tough to tell them apart. That's funny, and astute.

Guy has potential, getting plucked out of the NCAA and put directly into the NHL would be tough for anyone...he handled himself well.
Not as slow as some of you are making him out to be, got back on the back check a few times and was a force along the boards. Obviously he needs some work in the Summer but that is why he is here, so he knows what needs to be done.

Phil Esposito. Big, bulky, poor skater and loves to go to the front of the net

His stride is awkward, but he's not slow. He's flailing around like wildebeest out there when he's trying to pivot & whatnot. Easy for him to lose his bearings & get out of position but he still managed to tonight. He certainly got better as the game went on. I'm sure the Flames have someone they can send him to in the offseason to work on his stride. Could be a useful player.
The best thing about the Iginla trade? I think Agostino is way better.
