Thanks. I have a lot of dealings with each of them, and find them to be great to deal with.

Was anything said about leaving now or was it generally just moving on. It could be a planned transition over time, it could moving further upstairs, etc. moving on doesn't sound as abrupt as being fired or suddenly resigning

Edit: if we don't hear the sound of an axe in the next few days this is much more likely to be transition planning

If this rumour is true I would expect this to come during the offseason. Not saying it is though. Pretty sure they had plans to announce the arena plans between now and June.

Not sure if that's King or not but whomever is involved with hockey operations leadership should be gone.

Aren't the Hitmen only the top draw in the WHL because season ticket holders have to buy their tickets as well? Or at least they're "included" with some?

Even if he's moving on I've always liked what he brought to the organization in terms of being the face of the business side of things.
Sure has been a part of how we got to this spot, and IMO should have been gone the same time Darryl was forced out.

Flames STH get a discount if they choose to also buy Hitmen Seasons. Don't have to buy if you don't want to.

A guy who has won a cup and has successfully rebuilt two organizations over the last 15 years is currently without a job...get Brian Burke in whatever capacity he wants.

KK has had nothing to do with the product on the ice good or bad...he didn't get credit in 04 from me so he sure as hell won't be getting blame now

Bringing Burke on board would be worth it in itself just to see him go toe to toe with Lowe.

What types of things specifically did Ken King do that makes people want him gone? I am asking because I am curious and I want the facts.

Otherwise seems like he did quite a bit to put the Flames back on the map from a business standpoint while also being very approachable and interactive with the fans.

I don't think it is possible to say with any certainty, as there are no facts, that said the way the team has operated in the past 4 years has been so bizarre as to defy any kind of hockey sense which does lead one to think someone with no hockey sense is pulling the strings, either King or the owners or (likely) a bit of both.

Disclaimer: I've never run a hot dog stand, not a big fan of hot dogs.

I guess my view of KK is different. Top managers aren't hired to do much work. The actual work is done by underlings.

They are hired to do two things only very few are capable of: recognize the right people for key positions and hire and fire accordingly, and have the foresight AND balls to make a tough call BEFORE their hand is forced. When they get the rest of the staff on board as well, that's called leadership.

IMO KK failed on all counts, unfortunately.

Im not so sure that I see him as a Ron Bremner type who did seem to take the team far into no mans land as President. If I would say anything about where the franchise is from a on ice standpoint I think 10 years + of bad drafting has had the biggest impact more then any President or owner but then again they decide on which hockey people to bring in and keep as well.

The hiring of Feaster and his subsequent (and glaringly predictable) takeover of Sutters job was strangly done and reeked of the owners or King not trusting Sutter anymore and so looking for a 'safe' way of keeping an eye on him.

It is also beyond belief that any potential GM would look at the under acheiving, aging, expensive core and not recomend, in the 'if we gave you the job what would you do?' stage of the interviews to blow the team up and start again.

I do not believe for an instant that Feaster really thought the team was a playoff possibility as utterly no one did, even here, I can only assume he knew full well the owners through King would not contenance a rebuild and so he sold the plan he knew was wanted. Again there is no proof, but if so this is, in its basic sense, interference.

He said over and over the last three years that he thought it was and not one thing done until Iginla was traded indicated he believed this was anything but a playoff team. I doubt he would have accepted and stayed in the job if he so sharply disagreed with the owners given that he basically left Tampa Bay because he so strongly disagreed with the owners there. The guy doesn't know what good is.
