So I was at the game and it was awesome. So many depresed oilers fans.

Anyways, except for about the last 8 minutes or so of the second it was a great game. The Flames absolutely dominated in the 3rd, and there was nothing the oilers could do. Backlund and Reinhart were great but so was Jackman. He seemed to play a ton of minutes compared to usual, created scoring chances, I saw him dish out 3 hits in about 20 seconds, he doesn't get enough credit.

Just great to see our young guys hand it to the Oilers young veteran superstar 1st picks.

once I saw the Avs beat Vcr, I could really sit back and enjoy the win.

I loved seeing that Justin Schultz the next great one is pretty much still a disaster in his own end.

Great win by the Flames! Really wanted them to get this one after that debacle here on home ice.

Kids looked great tonight. Shultz really is a mess in his own zone - coughed up the puck and Calgary capitalized.

Aliu I thought played a pretty good game. Very physical, but never went over the edge. Flames were leading most of the game - not the time to be an agitator and perhaps give the other team to wake up. Smart game by him tonight.

I thought Carson played alright for the limited time I noticed him... which wasn't much. No idea how many minutes he got, but he didn't look bad at all.

Street was fairly unnoticeable (but not in a bad way at all) with the exception of his drive to the net. I can't really get a read on this kid - maybe he is NHL material, maybe not.. but he definitely wasn't bad.

What a beauty of a snipe from Reinhart!!!

I really like Backlund's game, and see him becoming a MUCH more dangerous and effective player as he gets some more 'man strength' and size. I really believe he is just a slow developer, but he is a smart player out there. Does a lot of things so well.

Baertschi was great tonight. Horak was a beast in his own zone and at puck possession. Our defence didn't make too many mistakes.

Also, I must add...

Brodie looked WAY better than Shultz tonight. Moved the puck better, better defensively.. I thought he was the best defencemen on the ice for either team. His progression is simply amazing. I am STARTING to think that he could really become a very good top-pairing defencemen. The guy is just so smart and just... awesome out there.

The best thing... the booing from the fans. Flames fans booed the Flames before, and they wanted change - namely a rebuild I think. What are the Edmonton fans hoping for? Rebuild #1 ala Chicago? Tanking is no way to build success.

Cory Sarich was an absolute beast tonight. The young kids can learn a lot from his game.

I think I will still be happy if we pick 4-6 at this point. I like winning and also Barkov and Lindholm have more than one dimension to their game. The more I see the Oil the less I want a team of players that possess one elite facet of the game but aren't well rounded (exception for Hall). All the skill in the world doesn't help when you are outworked and out hit. Lindholm actually has a pretty decent hit reel for a guy with smooth hands and Barkov is defensively responsible as well. Can't go wrong with either and they look good without the puck as well.

I will miss Sarich next year, I love his physical game. He's the player that Warrener wished he could have been.

i'm really enjoying the compete level from this line-up. I'd love to have a pick in the top three but I'm enjoying this.

I can live with Lindholm, Monahan or Nichushkin if it means that our Flames finish strong and continue to show this kind of pride.

The Oiler completely tanked for Hall, Hopkins and Yakupov. There's little doubt about that. Now they can't get that losing culture out of their system. As soon as the games became meaningful this year they folded up like a cheap suit.

That's not the fate that I want for my/our beloved Flames.

Reinhart family moment at Rexall as young Max scores 1st NHL goal on lifeless Edmonton Oilers

Quote:
Max Reinhart wasn’t sure his high, hard wrister had found the back of the net, and big brother Griffin, sitting in the Rexall Place grandstand, was momentarily distracted, so he didn’t actually see the landmark goal, either.

“I remember hearing it hit the post, but I don’t remember seeing it go in,” Max Reinhart said. “I just remember getting a puck in the slot and I saw (Oilers goalie Nikolai Khabibulin) kind of leaning to the short side and I just threw it far side as hard as I could.”

So, it was a good thing Theresa Reinhart, mother of Max, 21, Griffin, 19, and Sam, 17, elite hockey players, all, was paying attention when her first-born son buried a shot behind Edmonton Oilers goalie Nikolai Khabibulin at 10:19 of the period, giving the Flames the 4-1 lead they held in the final Battle of Alberta game of the season.

“I don’t usually get that excited, but this is pretty good,” said a clearly elated Theresa Reinhart after the game, the fifth as an NHLer for Max. “To see someone achieve their dreams, it’s pretty special to be a part of it.”
Quote:
“It was really cool,” Griffin said. “Me and Michael (family friend) were watching it together and we both missed it.

“It’s his only his fifth game playing, I think and he’s already got an assist. I knew it was only a matter of time. I got to see him play in Calgary (Friday night) and I was really fortunate to see him do it tonight.

“I felt almost like I was

You can't win just with all the first rounders. I look at the Flames at this roster: Jackman, Begin, Hudler, Widerman, Tanguay, Cammy, Sarich...they all possess different characters and personalities, skills, experience to show what it takes to be successful NHLers.

I look at the Oilers...Ryan Smyth... and the kids play too fancy at this point of the season. Very obviously, they still haven't got it.

Pitt beat the Wings in 2008 could have gone the other way, same for Chicago over Philly. But the sucking of suckness cannot guarantee anything.

Great play using his strength to keep Horcoff away from the empty net.

It is fascinating. Bad rebound control by MacDonald could have been trouble, negated by Sarich with tough smart D. Compare this to the tremendous number of point blank shots under no pressure from the slot and the backdoor plays allowed before the team was effectively eliminated. Cool of MacDonald to call out the better D as making the goalies' jobs easier

tonights game was a clear example of why we need youth in the line up.

kids playing for jobs as oppose to these veterans that sign lengthy contracts then stop caring.

great to see a flames win over the oilers

hopefully we can still pick top 4!

I missed the game tonight and Sven AND Maximus scored

also, nhl.com lists him as Maxwell Reinhart, which is awesome ... or hilarious. I can't decide yet.

Us securing a pick in the top 3 is now going to come down to whether we can suck more than Carolina in the final 7 games.

I hope Minnesota shows up on monday, cause it looks like our kids are going to be playing with their hearts on their sleeves the rest of the way. If we win any more games we'll be passing the likes of Nashville and Tampa, and then say goodbye to Barkov, Mack, Drouin or Jones..

Unless the hockey gods grant us the gift of the lottery.
