Even if you burn a year off his contract by playing him to end this year, his next contract is still likely only going to pay him 6 figures annually anyways. It's not like you're burning a year of a perennial all-star who is going to cost you big money down the road. I like that they're going to play him.

That's only for players under the age of 20. If he plays this year, he burns the first year of his ELC.
