Yeah, five years. He'll be 24 in June (Gaudreau doesn't turn 20 until August).

Hopefully this is like the WJ snub last year for Gaudreau, will just relight the fire for him for his Junior season, lets see some Kariya numbers out of him next year!!

Why are they giving it to that "old balls"! It's like giving a high school sports award to the hairy ogre who took 7 years to get through because he kept failing.
Less points in 7 more games and 4 years older. Complete BS especially considering Johnny was clutch.

Yah, I don't understand the bias against younger players for this award. If anything, it's MORE impressive that a younger player outperforms the older one, not the other way around. Seems like such a dumb bias.

I wish Johnny had waited to publicize his intent to go back to BC. I bet that factored into the decision. They gave to the guy in his last year vs the kid that has a good chance at winning next year anyways.
Tough luck Johnny. Keep lighting it up!

I'm sure the votes were already in before he announced it.

Absolutely ludicrous that Gaudreau didn't win. Another case of a bunch of biased, knowledgeable people (the media) getting to decide awards. Even worse in college hockey than any other league because so few games are televised such that none of the people who vote actually see most of the players play. Just a complete joke.
On another note, if you see the players who have won the Hobey over the years, it's almost better not to be in that company.

The list of Hobey Baker winners is mostly filled with nobodies anyway.
Still would have preferred he won

Well, here's a good measuring stick... we'll know Johnny is the real deal if he comes back even better next year and wins this damn award hands down. We know he has the capability to do so.

The diet stuff is funny but if true - dude has got to sort that stuff out. It is simply impossible for a guy with some long odds because of his height to also have poor nutrition.
Don't want to see another Ryan Howse from this kid.
Put down the twizzlers and pick up the carrots Johnny.

Screw putting down the twizzlers, eat that and then go bbq a steak. Kid needs to hit the gym and pack on some muscle. If anythinf he probably needs more calories.
Fun Twitter Fact: Former Flames draft picks Brett Hull and Joe Niewendyk both wer hobey baker finalists in their sophomore seasons. Both failed to win the award but seemed to turn out okay.

If Johnny is still playing hockey at the college level at that age he will have one the Hobey for sure. Congrats to Drew, but the real success story is the youthful Johnny Hockey already attaining this type of status.

Kind of interested to see if this sparks something in Gaudreau next season.
He has said being cut from the 2012 WJC US team was a big motivator to his rookie season, so let us see what this snub does.
