Nothing has really changed here, just the same "You watch hockey?" comments I usually get.

Taking less now then I did the past two seasons when management was being completely ignorant to the reality of our situation.

It's stupid to use an argument that is heavily outdated. Otherwise Flames fans shouldn't say anything about the Oilers since they are five times the team Flames are success wise.

I still hear Habs fans all the time say "who has the most cups?" and there's no response to that, so yeah it's effective though dated.

As a fan in Edmonton, I get quite a bit. Usually ignore it. They don't realize how crappy the oilers really are, despite such high draft picks the last few years.

We likely shouldn't until we actually have some relevant and time appropriate success that would be worth bragging about. We maybe had that for a year during the lock out after our run, but then they went on their own erasing that distinguisher. So really, both the Flames and Oiler have accomplished nothing to distinguish from each other since the Oilers dynasty days, so their 5 cups 100 years ago is still the trump card inn this argument, just like our 1 cup 100 years ago still trumps the Nucks for the same reason.

None. We have sucked for years, but we have finally decided to go in a direction that could actually lead us to getting better.

I live in "E-Town" as well. I find that a lot of them (not all) like to get really excited when they string together a few wins and really like to rub it in. But when they lose a few in a row they want nothing to do with hockey talk of any kind. Lately they've been pretty quiet in my world as well. I guess we can enjoy the peace and quiet until about early September, after that the delusional optimism will kick in again. It's just laughable at this point.

If somebody, especially an Oilers fan, was saying that the Flames are going to be bad for 10 years I can't imagine that I would care that much as he is obvious an idiot.

That said I haven't heard much, if anything, from other fans. Partially because there aren't a whole hell of a lot of other fans I know and the Oiler fans I do know are realistic enough about their team to know there is nothing really to talk about.

Not really that much. Only friend I have that's into hockey is a leafs fan, and after the 5-1 blowout last year, when he does decide to say anything, I just bring that up and he shuts his hole.

just got a call from a friend from Kamloops who is a Canuck fan. Just harrassing me in how sucky the Flames are. Of course my comeback is talk to me when the Canucks wins the Stanley Cup. That always shuts him up.

If you lived in Edmonton like some of us do, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't be able to just shake it off. It comes at us from every angle, be it local media, national media (the national media actually buys into and sells the hype more than the local media), and the delusional sh*t-talking local fans who are dumb enough to continue to believe the hype. I guess I shouldn't let it get to me, but Hockey Season is a bit of a chore around here these days.

I said ignore stupid comments like 10 years. Which a. ignores the fact the Oilers were in worse shape than us when they went into their rebuild so dummy still has a good 5 years left on his rebuild and b. it isn't going to take a cap team 10 years to rebuild anything.

I can imagine the morons in Edmonton make it tough to listen to at times but if the best they got is "10 years" then I think you can shake that garbage off.

I was kinda giving it to myself after me and a customer (Oilers fan) were talking hockey. He mentioned that the Oilers have been pretty much the sam team of the past 3 sets of 40 games. Very similar wins, GF, GA etc, just that everyone else has sucked a bit more allowing them to "rise" in the standings. He was probably the first Oiler fan I've seen admit that they aren't getting better.

I hear you. It just gets frustrating hearing the same sh*t every day, year after year about how awesome they're going to be, and how much we suck. It's like most people in Edmonton get hit with one of those Men In Black flashes after every April. It drives me nuts.

But I get your point, Moon.

Nothing out of the ordinary from my Canucks fan on Facebook, and my cousin, who's an Oilers fan.
