While I more or less agree not getting Richards looks wise in hindsight - you shouldn't overlook the possibility that having Richards as the #1 centre would have given the Flames a legitimate top line and kept Iginla at the top of his game longer and kept 2nd liners off the top unit, etc ... and probably translated into at least a few more wins - which would have put the Flames in the playoffs and changed the whole dynamic of what we ended up seeing here.

Shortened Season where some players and teams arent playing to potential. I bet Richards has a few seasons left in him. To say he is finished and the Rangers should buy him out, is like saying the Flyers should blow up their team....well not quite, but you get the drift. It was a stupid contract, but the Rangers are going to be competitve next year. Avoid the knee-jerk reaction and see how it goes next season.
