One positive today was Melky's contributions. If he can be productive out of that 2-hole it's only a matter of time before the big guys get going in the middle of the lineup.

And yes, Lawrie needs to get well soon. Izturis is really not well suited to play the hot corner.

What a buzz kill the Blue Jays have been. Probably the most hyped team in Canada's history and they lay an egg to start the season.

I'm not writing them off yet, but after a tough season with the Flames I was hoping that the Blue Jays would give me something to cheer for.

Agreed - been a bit of a let down. But a lot of it has been brewed up by the media - my expectations have been tempered from day 1, knowing it'll take some time to gel. I will say, wasn't expecting the staff to be as bad as its been, but it's early. They haven't even been through the rotation 2x yet.

Brett Lawrie (rib cage) is scheduled to take batting practice Wednesday.

Good news. Even better, Blue Jays manager John Farrell believes Lawrie could return as soon as a series against the Yankees from April 19-21 or in the following series against the Orioles from April 22-24. Either way, he's getting close.
