Like they keep saying, pitching has had a tough time getting out of the first inning....sets the tone for the rest of the game.

Every pitch I've watched Dickey throw this season (including the few spring games I saw with him) has sort of just floated over the plate.
Is he having a rough start or is this sort of... what he does and it's not working yet?

I'd jeer too. Guy cost an arm and a leg and was hailed as a savior. So far he looks like a bad buy that cost the Jays two really good, young players.

Yeah .. Dickey better pull it together or it's gonna get ugly
I wasn't a fan of the deal from the start, but this is obviously way too early to be concerned, when we get to the 7-10 start mark, if it's still like this, we're in trouble.

it was a ridiculously stupid deal. Dickey doesn't have the arm to be an major league pitcher, so he started relying on a gimmick to stay in the bigs. well when that gimmick runs it's course, this is what you get. the only reason he had as good of a run as he did was because knuckeballers are so rare in the MLB. but now scouts have had several seasons to watch him and hitters have learned what to expect
i'd be surprised if the Jays won a single game this year when Dickey is the starter

Regardless of whether he gives you 10-15 wins, which he probably won't at this rate, it is still a horrible trade to make.
I'm pretty sure they could have gotten a MUCH better pitcher in exchange for the players they traded way.
Mets are laughing all the way to the bank and then some.

I am not worried at the moment about Dickey I am sure he will figure it out. I am more worried about the fact that our bullpen let up 7 runs and we couldn't even score one run in today's game. I think the Jays need to change Dickeys spot in the rotation so he doesn't feel so much pressure.

I think the only way the Jays were successful was if their offense was able to slug them out of bad games like this. Maybe not 13-0, but they were able to hit themselves out of the last game.
But to be quite honest, I don't see it happening.

Yeah, having a knuckleballer as your ace and number one is not good. It's supposed to be a bonus, not your foundation.

Stupid hyperbole is stupid.
Something that has been around the majors for well over 100 years is not a "gimmick".
And yes, its perfectly rational to believe a Cy Young winner wont win a single game the following season.
LOL.

He will almost certainly win a few games.
The point is all contending teams have an ace they build their rotation around, and Dickey is not that guy.

He's been very good for three years, so while he might not have been expected to win 20, it wasn't surprising that he had double digit wins. There is a strong chance that he will not be as good as last year, but he isn't just going to suck all of the sudden.

After one or two weeks of the season, once teams have had an off-day or two, the order of the rotation really doesn't matter. If Morrow or Johnson prove to be better then Dickey then they will get the start if we have a playoff game.

Dickey will figure it out. He is the kind of guy that can take his lumps and move on, he's been doing it his entire career. I do have confidence that Dickey will return to form, maybe not his Cy Young form, but he'll dial it in. However, there is just this part of me that cringes when I think of our Ace being a knuckleballer. Hypothetically if the Jays are in game 7 of the World Series, I don't feel confident having Dickey on the mound.
I hate the Red Sox.

He is without a doubt a good candidate to get around 13-14 wins. But does that make him worth what they gave up for him?
Pretty sure they could have gotten Matt Garza for that price, and use him to solidify their rotation for years to come.

Like Dickey, Garza could have reached an agreement with the Jays.
Either way I'm just using him as an example. The point is the Jays traded away arguably the best prospect in baseball for someone that is not what most people here would consider to be your prototypical ace.
As in someone you want pitching for you Game 7 of the World Series.
