If Arnold can become a healthy David Moss I'll be very happy.

pretty interesting that they think Hanowski had a breakout year, given that he had 43 points last year compared to 31 this year.

Hanowski has changed his game alot in the past 2 seasons from what I have been reading. He has become less of a perimeter player and is using his body more.

As soon as I read "Jarome" spelled "Jerome", the article lost some credibility.

Granlund
Quote:
At this time, the young centerman's game is not ready for the physical North American style of play and the smaller ice surface. His overall strength and defensive game need more improvement to be able to compete in the AHL or NHL. His contract with HIFK has been extended through the 2013-14 season and Granlund will continue his development in Europe until he feels ready to attempt playing in North America.
|
Did Feaster mention that he was on the list to be signed? If not do we retain his rights? I know they increased the year limits for Euro players but not sure if this would apply to old draft picks. Maybe I've asked this before, anyways I don't think we should let him go. We can sign him and let him play in Finland like Ortio.

Yes, he needs to be signed by June 1, or he'll re-enter the draft.
The rules were changed for European draft choices going forward (you retain their rights for 4 years now), but it won't apply to players who have already been drafted.

just listened to his interview on 960 again:
Feaster: "[...] You know, we signed Wotherspoon and we're moving on ... we're talking to Brossoit, we're talking to Granlund, and we'll get to Johnny Ramage as well."
Steinberg: "And Granlund and Brossoit need to be signed by that deadline?"
Feaster: "By June 1st, yeah ... they're different from college ... no, I'm not concerned at all, I'm not concerned. We've had real good conversations with the agents for both, and the process is pretty far down the road on both of them really, so ... short order here now that we have the time."
Given that they signed Brossoit pretty quickly after that, I guess that Granlund is next.

God I wish this was true. Looks like a hell of a player out there. Good luck int he Frozen Four my friend! If Feaster's only accomplishment out of the Iginla trade is to make sure he signed LeBlanc (because of the Hanowski connection) that would be some chess-master level of thinking.

Also, it would take the edge off a bit if Drew beats out our own Johnny Hockey for the Hobey Baker award.

Heh, well, that sure is an interesting, random post from a poster with only five posts in over a year.

yeah, he'll surely confirm that ... I mean, signing with Calgary only means he can't play in the Frozen Four, but who cares, right?
If there's an agreement in place (which I highly doubt at this point), we'll only hear about it after the Frozen Four.

Not expecting an "official" confirmation, maybe we'll get a hint.

hey, I want him to sign with Calgary as much as anyone, but I'd be extremely surprised if there was even a hint prior to St Cloud's end of the season

Hmm, that was the Worst. Speculative. Post. Ever. then.
Allow me to correct it for you.

Anyone else think with the Hanowski connection, the Flames now have a great shot at signing Drew LeBlanc? Would love to see that happen. Welcome to Calgary, Drew LeBlanc!

There you go.
