Who knows. If I had to speculate however, I'd guess there are two possible candidates he's replacing.
Could be McGrattan, who got injured in the 2nd period of last night's game and didn't return. Could possibly be Stajan, who took that cheapshot from Bieksa at the end and looked woozy.

At the end of the day, the goal is to improve long term. As much as losing will help us with the draft, stunting progress amongst the prospects is not a good way to build this team.
I don't think he'll make that much of a difference that we fall out of a good draft pick anyway. If Sven can play so well that it means this team ends up with a few more points, well then it means he's played amazingly, and will be going into the summer and next season with a ton of confidence.

At this point, I wouldn't care if they started Joey Mac, benched Tanguay and gave Sven, Max, Backlund and Horak top 6 minutes against Colorado. Show us what you got, boys but it's the Avs, so even then we might beat them

The Avs managed to send Fridays game to extra time. The Flames clutched up and gave up the winning goal with 2 minutes left to close the gap to one point.
The Avs are a better team. Horribly coached, but a better team.

I hear you, but we're 11 games from the end of this miserable season, that #1 pick may very well be all we've got to show for it. Would hate to throw it away so close to the finish line.

Public example of blatant ignorance of things he should know number... Does anyone have a count? We've gotta be into double digits by now.

If the team goes 6-5 to finish the season, we're still almost certainly picking top 4 (barring lottery results). Nothing is being "thrown away".

just wait until they don't re-call anyone after call-up #4, find out about the rule change and then go out and say "we had a different interpretation of rule number xy" ...
But I think calling up the kids is a good strategy by the Flames. They are losing all the time, they get outshot and outplayed most of the time ... somehow you need to keep the fanbase excited/give them a reason to watch. I for my part enjoy watching the kids ... at least they give everything out there. I know I'd rather see the boys play their hearts out there than watch another game of "veteran leaders" like Tanguay who are mailing it in. Plus, for some guys it's pretty much an audition for next year. After yesterday, we all know that Max Power didn't look out of place, and that has to be a positive sign, right?

I love Baertschi, but this call up makes no difference in the outcome this year.

StrykerSteve. How in the hell does Sven make us instantly better? We weren't winning much with him on our roster and he's too young to make a big impact right away. Calm down man, we'll get our top 3 pick. This team will ensure that.

I assure you, I'm quite calm. With him in the lineup, the Flames have gone 13-9-4 (also counting last year).

Scary especially given the fact our GM is a lawyer ...

RogMillions Just talked to Sven Baertschi "so excited to be back" had to leave family visiting in Abby but says "this is what its all about!" #Flames
RogMillions
Get the sense from Baertschi he knows the future really starts now. Kind of refreshing in spite of #Flames record of late.

Okay, so that same winning percentage would give us at most 13 points over the final 11. Which gives us 43 for the season. And that would make our most likely first round pick (barring lottery results) either third or fourth overall.

So in that scenario if some team 5th or worse wins the lottery now that's a 4th or 5th overall?
(Edit: sorry didn't see barring lottery results in original post)
