Okay, I've done some research but I don't think any place I've looked has it up to date, but is the following list correct in terms of where the Flames will be picking this year:

Round One: Three picks (maybe two depending on where St. Louis finishes)

Round Two: No picks

Round Three: One pick

Round Four: One pick (maybe two depending on where St. Louis finishes)

Round Five: One pick (Columbus)

Round Six: One pick

Round Seven: Two picks (Chicago and their own)

Nine picks in total, I think.

I think we actually traded our 2013 7th a long time ago.

I think we have Chicago and Anaheim's 7ths.

no, we actually have Ottawa's 7th round pick ... that was the pick that we got for Karlsson (Chicago had acquired it previously). Plus we have either our own 7th or Anaheim's 7th - there was a condition in that trade in 2010 (Jaffray for MacMillan) that would make us exchange 7th round picks, but I don't know what the condition is.

Craig Button is very high on Lekhonen, so decent chance our Button is high on Lekhonen. Craig has him ranked higher than any other place I have seen him

Good, Florida or Colorado can have him, flames need a center.

Which begs the question, and I love asking it, if the Flames finish with the first pick and Florida picks second and wants Jones, if you're the Flames do you trade down a place to get MacKinnon and an extra pick or two?

No, don't risk it. They could be sly and say they pick Jones, then go for MacKinnon. I don't trust Jay Feaster to be sly though.

Best scenario would be both Col and Flo wanting Jones and us holding the top pick. Tallon & Lacriox give us your best offers.

I keep hearing that MacKinnon is unlikely to be an NHL center and will most likely be switched to Right Wing in the NHL. I would personally rather have Barkov because of that.

Another thought I had is this (assuming the draft order stays as is now).....

Trade the #3 pick to Buffalo for #5 and #25. Buffalo moves up to grab 1 of the big 4, we get Monahan @ #5 (who is a true center and amazing leader) and still have a trio of 1st round picks remaining.

Well we do need to stock up on RWs too, so I'd prob still take him if available and hope Nichskuin (spelling!) is available with the Blues pick

It's not true. Nate has said many times that his future is as a centreman.

He's simply a new age centre. Speed and agility.

And if he doesn't work out at centre, he shoots right, and we lack any sort of RW prospects.

MacKinnon really is just too good if a skater for me to pass up at this point.

I think that would be a pretty fascinating scenario.

On the one hand you have Colorado, which I think wants to pick-up Jones to help bolster their blue line and the Popey Jones connection. But is Lacriox going to be happy dealing with Feaster after the O'Rielly fiasco?

But if Florida wants Jones, as they have Huberdeau already in the wings, does that push Colorado to make a play?

Total speculation on my part, but that would be a fascinating set of events.

Is it just me? Or does anyone else feel like Monahan and Drouin are the next Toews and Kane in the making?

I've read it a few places when looking at mock drafts and such. He is often compared to Seguin because some expect him to move to the wing.

Seguin played centre for Jagr last night. It looks like his coach wants to eventually move him back there.

Probably has more to do with Bergeron being injured.

It's sick how many good natural centers Boston have, Bergeron, Krejci, Horton, Peverley and Seguin could all play top line center on the flames and a lot of other teams.

Could happen, but don't you forget they also have Gudbranson.
