I am only excited about Sven Baertschi and Geadreau.
I think Johnny hockey will ultimately get passed over by Flames brass because of his size.
he will make a nice career for himself playing over in Europe.
I really want the Flames to draft DROUIN!!!!!
Or.... Maybe not everyone needs to be a scoring winger. Maybe a solid, 2-way center with great hockey IQ has a place on a team. You know. To kill penalties and stuff.
Go ahead and cheer for purely offence; that's all good. But there are other, integral, parts to a team, and I for one love watching guys like Reinhart play. That he has history with his father makes it an even neater experience.
Not trying to be a Debbie Downer. Just giving a little reminder to keep your expectations in check.
He started the year like... well, a rookie pro. He's been looking a lot better since then. He's very smart. HATES to lose board battles. Might be one of the better players on the team at playing keep-away.
I wish the Heat weren't playing tonight so I could see how he does. I'm interested to see who he plays with.
Why can't you watch the Flames vs Canucks instead of watching the Heat?
For Reinhart I was more concerned about the -26 meaning he is not ready to make the jump.
Like many have said, with him we should expect a puck possesion / pk guy. Not a scorer.
I still think there is at least one more AHL season in his future, until he shuts lines down well enough that they are not scoring on him 5on5 so consistantly
I think Feaster is trying to tank the team for the best lottery chances. Bringing up Baertschi doesn't really help that.
This is win-win for Feaster. Bring in a prospect that needs a taste of the NHL without having to worry about the standings.
I do think we'll see Baertschi close out the season with the Flames though.
You've mentioned this a couple tinmes in this thread, but the team is not trying to tank on purpose. That is a ridiculous suggestion. They are simply seeing what their prospects can do at the NHL level going into the draft.
The Flames will finish bottom 3 because they are a team that lacks talen, but not on purpose...

Really important point. Everyone knows that the Flames have sorely lacked a true #1 center, but they've also been lacking a good defensive center/faceoff guy who can chip in some goals. It's an important role.

So you agree that they are doing things right now that don't include winning as the primary focus? That's tanking.
Once you start emphasizing draft as the focus and are auditioning for next season, you are officially tanking. It not the same as losing on purpose, and I never said that. But there will be more losses because of it... and that is just fine.
(I would also be shocked if Feaster wasn't considering draft position as a welcomed side-effect in this decision.)

Talking about the Heat, Feaster mentioned something to the effect the other day about how handy it is for the Flames to have the Heat in Abby. I'm probably reading too much into it, but is it a "fait accompli" the Flames farm club will move as soon as this coming year or the next?

Reinhart had a rough start to his pro career, but has made huge strides in the past 30 or so games. And he's clearly being rewarded for it, and rightfully so. I hope hecontinues to progress as Reinhart has all the tools to be an excellent two-way center for us, reminiscent of Langkow.
