the coach is all ready fired, so you know where they are looking next, they can acquire all the draft picks they want but he doesn't seem to be using them well
getting roped in to that huge Vanek deal was mismanagement
losing Briere for nothing was mismanagement

Regardless, the Sabres have come into the last 2 seasons with the highest payroll (in terms of actual salary paid) in the league and fallen flat both years. I'm sure ownership is really enthused with having to pay Myers, Leino, and Ehrhoff a combined $24M in salary for a 48 game season.

Roy for Ott was an awesome trade. Not sure if you've been following, but Ott has more goals, comparable number of points, has become a leader on the team, and brings a physical/pest presence that was sorely missing. Roy bumbled around on Dallas for 30 games and got traded.
Not sure what's wrong with valuing draft picks, prospects, and the future. If Calgary had done that at any point in the last ten years they probably wouldn't be in the position they are now.

I don't know, Roy was one of your better players, just seems odd to trade him for a Steve Ott. Sure he may be putting up some points this year, but he's not a guy you typically trade a 2nd line centre for.
Plus you had to eat Adam Pardy's salary too.
I know if Feaster made that trade, he'd get roasted on here and by every other "hockey guy".

I'd rather have Ott than Roy. I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Well, now I hope Roy is as worthless as he's being made out to be! I hope you guys are right!

Stafford is also looking like a bad signing as he's regressed.

Not sure how losing Briere for nothing was mismanagement. It's not like an NHL leading team with eyes on a deep playoff run were going to trade their leading scorer because he was an upcoming UFA. Signing him before the season started to a reasonable contract would have been good, but I'm glad they didn't offer him and Drury the outrageous contracts they ended up getting. That would have set the franchise back even further than losing them did.
Adam Pardy has 4 assists and is +6 in his seven games since being called up a couple weeks ago. Not bad for eating salay.
And the Stafford signing made sense at the time. He scored 31 goals in 62 games that season.
Not every GM is going to hit bulls-eyes all the time. Many of the moves made logical sense, but some of the pieces didn't quite fit and the coaching was a disaster.
I can't justify the Leino signing though. Still don't know what was going through his head that day. Hopefully they buy him out this summer.

Did you hear that he's from Bonavista, Newfoundland too? Incredible, I know.
