I hate to sound like an Oilers fan but the 2014 entry draft is shaping up to be a great day for Flames fans. Can't wait as it's going to be the best part of this shortened season.

Agreed.

Sorry if I missed it, but do we know the exact date and time of the start of the draft?

There are always trades at the draft, and I'm hoping after some compliance buy outs some teams have more cap flexibility, and we still move a couple more veterans for more picks. Like some second rounders, or maybe even package a vet up with a first to move up in the first.
Only 24 days until the Lottery and 86 days until the Draft! But who's counting?

I have my heart set on Drouin. Although having Jones or Mackinnon as a "consolation prize" isn't bad. I just hope Feaster doesn't draft some surprise player.

Its really the only 2 dates i care about now. I'll watch whoever the Blues play in the first round and cheer that team on. If Iggy makes it to the final i will watch.

The flames are going to have to give a better effort in their remaining games for me to be still interested in hockey when the playoffs roll around.

Not sure, but I do know the NHL Network will be airing the whole thing.

TSN usually airs the 1st round only while the all rounds are shown on NHL network.. Last year nhl.com provided a free stream for all rounds.

Whoever the Flames pick with their 1st, I hope is mentally tough. He is going to be looked at as the new face of the franchise and be under the microscope with every move in his first development camp over analyzed.

I want Mackinnon. Sven to Mack for years to come. Hire Gary Roberts full-time. Have our prospects fly in and train with him.

Things are a little different this year though since all 7 rounds are being done on one day, and it's a Sunday.

I wouldn't be surprised if TSN did the first 2 rounds... and I'd watch every minute of it.

I could be wrong, but I think Roberts might be making more moula with his High Performance Centre at Fitness Institute than being hired full-time under an NHL club.

Granlund and Gaudreau should go spend the summer with Roberts. Would help them both immensely.

Agreed- frankly sucking hard this year is the best thing that could have happened. I'll take any of the top 4 guys over any of the oilers first overall picks, particularly that Yakupov goof. In this draft I bet Yakupov would go 7th or 8th.

What a goof.

Flames should go with either Drouin or MacKinnon I think. There is really no wrong pick between these 2 players but if I had to pick I would go with MacKinnon just because of his physical/power forward style he plays. Furthermore, hes a true centerman-something the Flames havn't had in a very long time.

What date must teams be under the new salary cap? And when is the last day teams can enact their buyout?

He is also under contract with the Stars as a Player Development Consultant.

Yeah, I'd take any of the top 4 over Yakupov... I might take Hall or Nugent-Hopkins over Barkov (But I'd take the big three over any of them). If Hall could manage to not let himself get destoyed once a year he'd be over some of the others but he can't so...

I know we all love to hate the Oilers but Hall is emerging into a dominant forward at this point. Tough to argue that you'd take these guys over Hall who's sixth in the league in PPG.
