Go Oilers Go! chants drowning out any chants from Flames fans. Hearing the Oilers chant during the Flames broadcast made me sick to my stomach.

Just be glad you were not at the game like I was, there was no beating it back, 3 years of futile efforts vented loudly from our neighbors up north, like an annoying Stamps Sask. game.

It sucked, they totally diluted the C of red. How did so many get tickets so fast? This game was an omen of things to come.

Wait, weren't people flipping out that ownership wanted to make try for playoffs next year?
Last night is what it would be like if the Flames tried to become the Oilers 4 years ago. It is brutal, and after 3 games of "burn it to the ground" I have had enough. Feaster better ice the best team possible next season (without sacrificing the future). That means spending money in free agency and taking on unwanted contracts of other teams. People complained about the Wideman and Hudler signings but really, those are the only two players that are actually suited to their roles
I hope the Flames can at least play .500 hockey from here to the end and then next season I think I would honestly prefer 9th place over 15th

Can you have it both ways?
This result was predictable. The team has been hollowed out, effectively removing its 3 best players (Kipper included, given the retirement) in one fell swoop. Can you blame the players for being demoralized? Clearly not emotionally in it.
I won't cheer for last, but I don't reject it. This is a lost season; if it gives us the opportunity to draft the future face of the franchise, then all is not lost.

I think so. It would have to involve throwing more big money around in free agency on long term deals, which some may say will affect the long term ability of the team but I really don't think so. Wideman and Hudler don't really seem like hindrances to the future of the team, if anything they are good guys to have around going into the future. This team desperately needs to sign a defensemen in the offseason, even if they draft Jones
Bringing in other teams overpaid players so that they can get under the cap likely won't affect the future either since most are on 1-2 year deals and can still play a role.
Feaster has said that this is the basic plan for next season, but I hope ownership let's him whip out the wallet to do it. A few good young players in the line up, a few free agent signings, and losing some dead weight could work wonders for this sad team.

I don't want to see fans whining about what a crappy team we have after whining about not blowing it up previously.
I don't want to see fans whining about how hard it is to support this team when they don't buy tickets.
I don't want to see fans whining about losing games when they previously whined about us not playing our "kids".

And hopefully someone will tell this to his face: If you had the balls to trade Iginla/Kipper/Bouw when they held value, you'd have 3 solid young players and City on board with rebuild. But no, you had to be a stubborn mule. Now you have to build from scratch. Congrats.

And the melodramatic pronouncements continue.
Ahhhh .......
I look forward to the coming tidal wave of "I can't support this team any longer" posts as we go through the actual rebuild.

This is going to be brutal for the next few years and that's the truth maybe in the next 4- 5 years we will have a team to be proud of to cheer on again but until then its paper bags and cheering for losses picks and more picks is what its about right now until we have enough young talent that makes the Flames the beast they once were.

I don't want to see some people put the needs of one player ahead of the needs of the team regardless of what that one player has done. Doing that has put this team where it is now.
Team>individual player

Have any STH actually received a renewal yet? I haven't and thought it odd. Now that the rebuild is full on, perhaps it will affect renewals?

I'll be shocked if there aren't draft lottery parties.
My buddy works at a pub and his place expects to hold one. It's great at generating interest and all the talk in the city is about MacKinnon. Where else can you discuss and enjoy securing a #1 overall pick?

I don't want to see Calgary kids supporting whatever winning team that suits them. It happened in the '90s & nearly killed this franchise. You're from Calgary & you're lucky enough to have a massive (albeit struggling) NHL hockey club in your town. Take that for granted & you'll lose it.

I'm a huge fan of fans with paper bags over their heads. It shows fans still care as they are paying good money for a poor product. It's the most visible way for a paying customer to get their message of unsatisfaction across to ownership.

I haven't and I'm a bit surprised by that. Maybe they were waiting to drop prices after the sell-off.

I'd rather see people go to the games with a bag over their head than see empty seats. It shows that this team has financial support even though the team isn't good.
