Burke is one shrewd mother !@#$%^&. I think having him around as the face of the franchise while we sort things out and try to reestablish ourselves would be a great thing. Sven doesn't need the media hounding him each game next year when things are looking bleak post-Iginla/Bo. Heck even whipping boy Comeau is gone.

I'd love to see him in Calgary but I think that ship sailed.

Unless this draft can meet unrealistic expectations I feel that the Feaster era will be the darkest days since the young guns. Up until recently I have had faith in him, and I do still believe that Weisbrod is a good hockey guy. However believing in Feaster to rebuild the team properly is not something I feel good about as a fan. In the same way the Phaneuf trade now appears to us as the begining of the end of the Sutter era, I think we will look back and see the ROR debacle as the moment we were buried in the ground by Feaster, I think he's a good guy, but I have no allegiance to him.

Burke is a proven GM, he has built winning teams in Van, Ana, and most recently Toronto is a product of his vision, Feaster did not build the winning Tampa Bay team, and IMO he has no place in rebuilding our Flames. I would applaud a Burke hiring

I don't know if that ship has necessarily sailed. Burke, when in Toronto said he would never ask a player to waive his NTC/NMC as that was something they negotiated in their contract and they shouldn't have to be asked to waiver on a promise management made, whether he gave it to them, or previous management did - he did not want to ask any player to waive it. Given the Sutter administration handing those out like candy, how many moves could a guy like Burke make? If what the poster a few weeks ago said that Burke was in town inquiring about the President position (or GM, we don't know), perhaps his advice was to get current management to clean out the NTC's/NMC's, and once there are players on the team without it, he'd be able to come in and have more flexibility to make moves without going against his principles.

I hate, despise the person but I fully support Burke as a GM of the Flames going forwards. Plain and simple he has proven to be a very quality GM and with what is available the best possible option for the team.

I don't think it will happen tho because I'm not sure he would tolerate all the meddling that reportedly goes on with the ownership. At least that's what we hear, who knows how much truth that rumor has.

Ken King should be removed from Hockey Operations. He can focus on a new building, but should have nothing to do with the team itself. Feaster makes mistake, after mistake, after mistake. IMHO he needs to go to let someone else start fresh. Brian Burke would be awesome. I would welcome him as a president/GM. Besides the bad moves, the Flames have lost allot of credibility within the NHL, which needs to be rebuilt by a more credible management staff.

Single strong personality needed, whoever it is.

Sutter had the autonomy, and a stand up guy who the upper management laid off of until the fallout Phaneuf deal that next offseason...its been watered down since, and now its Feaster in there who is a puppet of King and Edwards and he's fine with that.

The person has to take no crap from anyone, however King defines meddling. For the big money deals, yes, the owners need to be on side and informed.

Day to day, as it was under Sutter, they need to lay off...and the new GM/President /Director of Hockey operations whatever title you give him, has to stand on his own.

This is the offseason to make that change...get the stink that this GM and now this coaching staff has around the league. The "best coach" and "best goalies not in the NHL" doesn't fly with those in NHL hockey circles, along with all the other lawyer speak Feaster has engaged in to placate the fans. He's certainly not the only problem, it also means a step back from King and Edwards in how they've become involved.

I believe, at least in Edwards case, that he will, for a single, well respected, strong personality to come in and get this ship back on course, as it is the most vital thing to prevent things like tonight from happening again in the next decade...10 years ago Calgary lost 7-1 to Phoenix and 6-2 to Columbus at home in the course of 3 games that I attended, and didn't think it could get worse than that...tonight is pretty close..

So you're saying we're making the Finals next year?

I agree with you though....this team is just crying out for a leader right now. Someone who has the respect of his peers, his subordinates, and someone can say no to ownership when no needs to be said. We pretty much need a Darryl Sutter that's not Darryl Sutter. Burke is definitely the closest to that guy.

The issue is of course, if you're Edwards, do you hire a guy who you know will make your life harder?

Weisbrod will get the GM position if Feaster is let go.

What I don't want is a GM who is always feuding with ownership and the media. It's a distraction a rebuilding team doesn't need.

It would be a waste of time as I don't think ownership places much value in what the media says. A half empty Dome would send a message but......

I do think a large portion of the media does browse CP though and they do quote a lot of what goes on this board on the fan. Perhaps someone will take notice of what people have been saying on here but your point makes complete sense.. I doubt ownership cares unless they start losing money.

If ownership listened to fans the rebuild would have started a few years ago. The owners IMO live with the memory of the half empty Dome during the young guns era and are terrified of losing the fan base again. It's the only reason I can think of for delaying the rebuild.

Well I guess silly is as silly does. I was actually making reference to the fact that the media does view these forums and they would take notice of all the fire Feaster threads and perhaps they would start talking about potential replacements. My "petition" was obviously a joke, sorry if you didn't see that as my main objective was to bump this thread. Your one word response "No" contributes nothing.

You must re-read your question and then think of a better way to post it where a one word answer doesn't actually answer your question... The response you received from me was adequate. Now, because you keep posting making a silly attempt at trying to defend your yes or no question, we are just taking up forum space...

If Feaster is let go, I wouldn't mind seeing Burke take over the reigns. When he arrived in Toronto that team was a joke and their cupboard was bare. Now the team he build sits 5th in the east (realistically 4th).
