I'd like to say "scorched earth", but that's a bit dramatic.

I'm pretty sure Pyramid Productions (Larry Day) were in talks to do a Flames one last summer, but it was put on hold because of the lockout.

If people want to predict gloom and doom for this team - go right ahead. What I don't understand is why people would choose to be so negitive about this team when there is still a draft to held and the upcoming UFA frenzy and compliance buyouts. Why not wait until next September before predicting gloom and doom?
I'm not a hater when it comes to Feaster. And I'm fine with the returns the Flames got in the Iginla and Bouwmeester trades.

However, the "wait until next September before predicting gloom and doom" has been trotted out for four years now. Actually, it's more like:

"wait for September... wait for the trade deadline... wait for the draft... wait for July 1... wait for September... wait for the trade deadline...."

Like I said, I'm okay with how things have gone down with this team for the last month or so. But shooting down any criticism with "wait until <....>" has gotten really, really old.

It might also be nice if those who - correctly - predicted the Flames plummeting fortunes three years ago were acknowledged as being right, instead of derided as being negative. At some point, being honest should carry more weight than believing whatever makes you feel good. This franchise would probably be in a lot better shape today if it had more of the former and less of the latter.

If we assumed the show would be titled along the lines of the rest of the media's coverage, it would probably be called "Look at these rebuilding LOSERS"

How about

'Crap, forgot to put any oil in the furnace tank and now I have to shlep my arse down the truck stop to buy some diesel at twice the price while this house is colder than a brass monkey'

Might be a bit wordy though and probably only makes sense to the over 40 crowd

Flames were approached but wouldn't commit to multiple running seasons, so it was dropped.

My guess is that it more on the order of 'you are on a tight leash'. Feaster just chose to share it with us. I'm sure GM's hear this all the time. 'You're on borrowed time', 'better start seeing results' -type of comments, they just don't usually announce them.

Plus, in general, 'trying to make the play-offs' does not necessarily equate to trade youth for veterans, folks. Obviously, if he does that, then yeah, get the torches and let's get 'im!

The past is in no way a gaurentee of what's going to happen in the future. Jay Feaster has admitted mistakes and the team is heading in a different direction with the trades of Iginla and Bouwmeester. I would think fans would be excited about the prospect of us not being a team that loads up on aging vets in an attempt to get a playoff spot every year.

FA season is a terrifying prospect since that is a terrible way to build a team and great way to overpay your way into 10th place.
Teams are going to have to pair down their rosters to meet the demands of a lower cap. Flames will be one of the few with cap space to spend on players. Unlike other years of UFA's the upcoming compliance buyout will mean there will be alot more players on the market. It's not going to be like years past where the cap was always going up.

If there were positives here that would be great but just don't see them with the current morons we have in hockey operations.
So having a pick somehwere in the top 6 is something to be negitive about?

Feaster explained later that it was that the owners and management don't want players using the excuse of a lack of top end players for not trying every night or that we're in a rebuild phase. It's not an excuse they will accept from the players and that they expect them to be professional and give it their all everynight.

The Penguins have an awesome show. I don't know if its actually on tv, but its available on their website. I believe it produced by HBO. Very similar feel to 24/7.
