Pominville brings more to the table than Cammy. He's got Cammy's offense plus a more well rounded. Cammy is a very one dimensional player. That one dimension is the most important part of hockey (getting goals), but it doesn't do wonders for his trade value.

This really makes the Bouwmeester return look embarrassing. Giving Feaster every benefit of the doubt, he should have still come out of it with a first and a legitimate prospect.
Iginla deal isn't comparable with all the leverage Iginla and the Penguins had over Feaster.

How do those two players relate at all? a forward and a D, one has a 7 million dollar boat anchor around his neck

You can compare values across positions. There's no way that Bouwmeester would not have garnered a decent prospect and a 1st if a better GM was running the Flames.
Bouwmeester is a great player. Especially as an addition to an already strong team. The Blues or the Wings would have given up two good pieces to get him.
It's not like this isn't a trend for Feaster either. Every return is underwhelming.

Oh yeah, he is such a fantastic player that it took him 3 seasons to show anything in a Flames uniform.
We got 2 prospects and a first for someone who could have very well been a buy out candidate had things gone differently this season. Feaster also sold high with Bouwmeester. Would you rather have D'Agostini and a second? (The rumored return from the off-season) or 2 prospects, a first and possibly a fourth?

Well that 'far superior player' has lead his team to as much success as Iginla has since he has been in the league, plus he plays with better linemates.
Yes, I do think Pomminville's price should be higher; but a Blue chip prospect, potentially a future starting goaltender and a 2nd round pick - more than Iginla or Bouwmeester? Sorry, he isnt that good.
Feaster suuuuucks

Darcy Regier is a great GM, hands down. Between last year's trade deadline, the draft, and this year's trade deadline, I'm nothing less than very impressed. Some stellar returns on trades.
Love this one, should work out well.

So is Regier's job safe then, even if they miss the playoffs this season?

A great GM who has recently had to fire his coach and whose team will miss the playoffs how many times in the last 6 years?

Really guys, why the attack?
He's made a lot of good moves.
Gaustad for a 1st
Kassian/Gragnani for Hodgson/Sulzer
Roy for Ott
Solid 2012 draft
Regehr/Leopold for three second round picks
Pominville for ridiculous return
That's a pretty good year for a GM. Buffalo may be in the dumps now but they won't be for long with proactive activity like that.

The problem is that he's been the GM of the Sabres for such a long time, accomplished very little, and he's rebuilding again because the core he built can't win.
It's been a seller's market at the deadline for years. It's pretty easy to come out looking good as a seller at the deadline. His Leino signing is looking pretty good though.

Darcy got a great return that could be a hall of fame return if the players and the picks pan out. But that's sort of been Darcy's MO of late, yes?
Wild got a good piece, and now has a first line that, while there isn't the pure offensive skill of some of the best 1st line players in the league, features three players all of whom play the same game. If Pommer gels with Mikko and Parise that line will never be outworked, will be the epitome of responsible in their own zone, and will score ENOUGH for the Wild to be a playoff team. It's also three current or former NHL captains - and the Wild has a lot of kids coming down the pike who will certainly benefit from that kind of leadership.
I really don't like giving up 1st round picks, but it's the only one involved in this trade (neither Hackett nor Larsson were 1st rounders) and the fact of the matter is that the Wild traded for a serving NHL captain. Darcy had to get ONE 1st round pick (current or former) in the deal.
I don't think the Wild has the defense to be considered a true contender at this point. But, if they can sign Pommer long term then this deal evens out in my opinion.
I have no comment on the comparisons to what Feaster was able to pull off. Although I am glad those comparisons are not my cross to bear.

If I am selling off players like Buf is, I definitely want Regier selling those players off. He gets ridiculous returns

Regier makes good trades but his team massively underachieved and I think he's on the hot seat.

I didn't see it mentioned in this thread but on sportsnet yesterday they mention that Buffalo retained 15% of Pomminville salary. I didn't really see it anywhere else. Anyone else hear that? Looking at cap geek it appears to be the case as Buffalo has a cap hit for 800k for this and next year.

I still think its too early to judge the Kassian - Hodgson deal, looks good now but power forwards take time. I don't really see Hodgson as a 1st line centre. If both guys develop to their max potentials Canucks win the trade;
Personally, I don't like the two first rounders the Sabres made. I think Grogorenko won't be long for the NHL and Girgensen is probably a 3rd line centre at best;
Not sure how you can call Ott for Roy a good trade;
The other deadline deals for sure we're good in terms of their return. The were definitely better returns than what Feaster got but then you are comparing to probably the worst negotiating GM in the history of the NHL so it's not really saying much.
Regier had made some brutal signings and has cost his owner a lot of money over the past two seasons, both of which they've missed the playoffs. In the big picture, Regier has failed miserably, but I guess to Certain perspectives, such as HF and Oiler fans who over value draft picks and prospects and the future, Regier has been super successful.

Regier made one bad signing, the Leino deal. Ehrhoff has been our number one D for two years at a reasonable contract, and the jury is still out on Myers.
Roy for Ott was an awesome trade. Not sure if you've been following, but Ott has more goals, comparable number of points, has become a leader on the team, and brings a physical/pest presence that was sorely missing. Roy bumbled around on Dallas for 30 games and got traded.
Not sure what's wrong with valuing draft picks, prospects, and the future. If Calgary had done that at any point in the last ten years they probably wouldn't be in the position they are now.
