Yeah because Backlund has hit 50 points so many times in his career.....

be interesting if Gaborik is there beyond next season, not sure this is a great move for CBJ to push for 8th and get pounded by the Hawks

Come now. He might be a step above Backlund, but his offence alone isn't as good as ROR.

Never mind the defensive side of things.

I think Columbus did really well with this trade. I don't like Gaborik for a potential playoff run, but neither do I like the pieces they gave up.

Damn, if only Iginla/Bouwmeester had CBJ on their lists we might have gotten a decent player or two in return for them...

Shocked at how much people think the Blue Jackets got ripped off. Gaborik scored 41 goals LAST YEAR. He has done it twice in the last three years and has to be regarded as one of the best goal scorers in the league. I think the return for him was pretty low. A first rounder from Columbus would have evened it out. Originally thought it would be Gaborik for Johnson and I heard earlier in the day that Sather offered Gaborik for Byfuglien.

Agree with above. Gaborik is an elite level talent, who was having an off year with a fickle coach. The only problem is his health. Brassard hasn't impressed for his draft standing; Dorsett is a poor man's Chris Neil. Don't know too much about Moore. I'd say CBJ wins.

Could also see Gaborik staying with CBJ - he doesn't mind playing on a floundering small market team.

I think evidence shows that Gaborik is better than Nash, so all in all Columbus worked the Rangers imo.

I would much rather the list of Ranger guys than the Colombus guys, especially when you consider where Colombus is. But I don't think evidence shows that Gaborik is better than Nash at all and would easily take Nash over Gaborik if given the chance.

Well now, that changes everything.

I always love seeing those super late picks in blockbuster trades. I'd love to hear of a trade involving a superstar that didn't go through because one team didn't want to give up a conditional 7th pick.

I'll echo Moon's thinking. I'd prefer Nash over Gaborik. It's slight, last 4 years their stats are near identical, but Nash is having a better season now and is a couple years younger.

But I like Columbus' side of the trades.

Gaborik<Nash (So slight)
Erixon=Moore (2 spot difference same draft, neither really have separate themselves)
Anisimov, Dubinsky>Brassard, Dorsett
