30 teams should have the goal of making the playoffs every year. That's how the league works
Trying to make playoffs doesn't mean you have to make stupid moves and sacrifice the future. We shouldn't freak out at the idea that the owner wants his team to win

And if Johnny G decides he doesn't want to play for the Flames, I'm sure that will be alright with Feaster and Flames fans. It's all about the best interests of the player after all!

If we make the playoffs next year with a young roster... not really sure what's wrong with that. That means our players are developing nicely.

I'm honestly wondering if I watched the same press conference as some of the people in this thread.
Crazy negativity is picking up on little throwaway lines and blowing everything out of proportion.
I have no idea how some people think that the press conference means that Feaster is going to trade away all our prospects/draft picks for veterans?

I'd rather have an ownership that wants to make the playoffs, than one which embraces failure.

The team will never win if panic moves are made to pick up overpaid veterans to try and make a push for 8th.

New fans might be a blessing, too. Go away.

I think we as fans can realize and come to terms with the fact that another year of no playoffs is the best thing for the franchise long term. Does Jay really need to butter us up when the team has been failing for a long time now?

Yes, every single team in the league has now changed their focus from winning towards Calgary's plan and how to circumvent said masterful plan.

Yeah, sure, but something tells me that's now what Edwards meant. I'm afraid the guy wants something more drastic, and not work on having a good young team with a plan that which may or may not make the playoffs, but will be making long-term strides.
With that comment and what feaster said the last few days, I have a feeling we're going to be going after some more veteran UFA's this summer.

Also, he just said on the FAN is that he's going to go to New Jersey to talk with him this summer, but as of now he does not know if he will play with the Flames this fall. That's all he's saying about it.

Stocking up on players who are closer to NHL ready vs. trying to get players who might have a slightly higher upside, but farther away from the NHL.
Because we're doing the former right now.
There is also a huge difference between wanting and expecting. The quote was referencing the latter. If we sign some major Free Agents for massive deals, maybe you'll come around.

That's great and all, but the owner telling the GM they expect to be in the playoffs after a year like this is very different.
The goal is always to make the playoffs, but expecting it implies that it's a priority over developing young players. It leads to situations where guys like Baertschi don't get adequate PP time and stunts offensive growth.

What moves has Feaster made where he has severely mortgaged the future? There have been two second round picks given away, one to help us dump a horrible contract and one to help trade up to a better player.
After the recent trades he said pretty much word for word "We are not looking to trade picks and prospects right now."
Calm the hell down
