Kinda crappy that we still have the same crappy core on the D and the first 3 lines when the best Flames ever got traded. Well, at least JBo and Comeau-ver are gone!

Given the drama around the Iginla trade (not getting his list in writing reduces the return), I don't see how anyone can give the Flames a good grade.

Was hoping for more moves, but most guys that were talked about potentially moving aren't UFAs at the end of the season, so not really surprised the Flames were quiet.

He did fair. I think he could've gotten a bit more for JayBo, but overall in the realm of what he should get. Actually impressed he was able to get something out of Comeau after bringing him in for free.

I think we should have found a way to move one more winger if only to clear room for Baertschi for next year.
Moving Kipper would have been nice just to continue with a "move forward with a new era" mindset.
Surprised nobody took Sarich.

People wanting more trades have to realize that players can still be traded at the draft for 2013 picks.

Where's our 24 year old franchise goalie?
Where's our 21 year old Norris contending defenceman?
Where's our 1st line center in his prime?
Where's our Andrei Markov?
Where's all of the front line young players already on the roster like Subban, Pacioretty, Turris?
I'm not saying that we can't get these players but these players were already in the pipeline or were acquired with assets already in the pipeline by the time they already started to stink. As a result, their turnaround was faster, ours will be longer.

I would still like to see Glencross moved for a similar package that Iggy or Jbo got. This can still happen at the draft or the next deadline and keeping him isn't bad either because he can score. I just feel that 1 more 1st in this years draft would be worthwhile 3 years down the road.
I agree with everything else and hope we continue this process into next years deadline where we have lots of assets worth 2nd/3rd round picks. I hope we sign 1 year overpriced UFA deals next year to stock up for the draft. I think after the buyouts there should be lots of guys who want 1 year deals to prove themselves worh more money long term.

Ottawa at one point this season had 17 of their 20 guys that were on the roster, that were drafted players.
We are absolutely, unequivocally NOT in a position like those two teams mentioned.

I keep seeing this. Why the hell would Iginla agree to turn his full NTC into a limited NTC? I don't think there is much precedent for it.

Not You, Me, Jay Feaster, nor anyone else knows how long the turnaround will be. It depends on so many future factors.

I agree. Aside from a good contract, and reasonable offence, I'm not sure how he could be considered untouchable.

I believe it`s called wishful thinking on the part of people who play far too much fantasy hockey....

the funny thing about the deadline this year, we now require not only flames GDT's, but i'm more concerned about having a Blues GDT and perhaps a Penguins GDT.

Sure I could be dead wrong. At least I'm supporting my position with an evaluation of our situation compared to the other teams in question.
It's equivalent to say there's nothing stopping the Flames from going 15-0 and making the playoffs to end out the season. You don't know if that will happen or not, so it's a possibility!

I give him a C.
I wouldn't fail him on the basis of this draft, but it wasn't good enough to make up for his failing grades in other areas.
Iginla trade: Got vastly less than any NHL commentator thought he would, bad PR during the trade, extenuating circumstances limiting the value, blah blah blah. The Bottom Line is that he absolutely did not, in any way, win this trade. There are only explanations/excuses why he lost it.
Bouwmeester trade: Modest return included a 1st rounder, and may have reflected a soft market. Probably a fair trade, given Bouwmeester's contract next year. One has to wonder why the Flames didnt elect to eat some of that salary to sweeten the return.
Comeau trade: Congratulations. Feaster's best trade of the season netted a 5th rounder.
Babchuk Trade: Didn't happen.
Stempniak trade: Didnt happen.
Tanguay Trade: Didnt happen.
Trade to acquire an actual NHL calibre goalie to replace Kipper: Didnt happen.
Trade to turn late-1st round pick(s) into a top prospect or early 1st: Didnt happen.
If he had done, and either won or at least not lost the majority of those deals, I would have given him an A+. Standing pat, buying, or losing a significant number of deals would have gotten him an F.
As is, I think he deserves a C. Not terrible. But I still want him gone.
Of course he still has the chance to do some of those deals at the draft. Would be nice to see.

Because it's common practice. I'm sure if Feaster told Iginla that Pittsburgh was offering nothing that he'd be in Boston right now. Feaster gave him the upper hand by saying they were similar.

King said his main regret about the Iginla trade was not getting the list of teams in writing. What does that tell you?
