I`m a fan of the Calgary Flames, i`m about the team and it`s success....i love Kipper and what he`s done for the team but at the end of the day he`s screwed them over and they will not be able to turn him into anything in the future....that sucks as far as i`m concerned.

You clearly stated that the Flames organization gave him the opportunity to succeed, to emerge from the shadow of two goaltenders ahead of him in the depth chart in SJ. Yet, you neglect to recognize that it was Miikka himself who made the most of the opportunity, had an astounding low GAA and excellent save % in the march to the final in 2004, and followed it up with several Vezina caliber seasons and ultimately, albeit arguably, was the single greatest factor in turning around the fortune of this franchise.
Calgary may owe him nothing, but he owes Calgary the same. They have decided to honor an equatable relationship by giving his future career decision weight in dealings. He has no obligation to commit to another team further than the rest of this season.
God forbid he screw Calgary out of what most certainly was going to be no better than a 3rd-4th round pick given the uncertainty of his future.
