I can't believe TBL management approved this trade

Conacher immediately becomes the Senators point leader. I'd assume Anderson is back ASAP as well.

Take notes Flames management on how to properly manage a franchise from Bryan Murray

Wish we had the tandem of Melnyk and Murray instead of the total clownshow that is the Flames brass

Classic example there of two teams helping each other; both teams win in the Bishop/Conacher deal
Agreed. Conacher has been good, but Bishop is something the Lightning needed...namely a good young goalie with tons of upside.

Good move for Tampa.

Bishop fills a hole that Tampa NEEDS to fill.

Conacher is an undersized prospect, and Tampa has lots of undersized prospects.

Give it a rest.
Feaster makes a trade: horrible trade, we got fleeced, Feaster sucks
Another team makes a trade: we should've got him, Feaster sucks

We have Ramo/Berra likely next year, big question marks no doubt, but there's potential there as well (Ramo moreso than Berra probably). I'd rather run with them until LB or Gillies is ready. What's the point of giving up a very solid young player for another question mark of a goalie. Not as much of a question mark as Ramo/Berra but he is still not a clear #1.

Yeah Feaster, you should fly to Pittsburgh and ask Doug Murray all about how to run your nhl team.

That is, if you were a dumbass.

So in the last 9-10 months Tampa has spent:

2nd rounder
2nd rounder
3rd rounder
4th rounder
Conacher

....on goaltending. Will be interesting to see if Bishop ends up being the answer or them.

Melnyk's still a bit of a clown show, but Bryan Murray is the real deal.

Horribel deal by TB. Conacher is one of those smaller players that really makes a line tick.

I see no upside in trading futures for a guy with so little team control and we don't have present value players to entice LA. Getting a guy like Bernier is a move you make when your nearing the end of a rebuild not when it's just begun.

Good GM who doesn't get enough credit, always has been a really good drafting GM.

Helped build the Ducks team that won the cup, made some really shrewd moves as GM in Florida (Olli+ Loungo for Parrish, Kvasha), had some good drafts as coach/GM in Detroit, and has been huge in rebuilding Ottawa.

Love how the media is unable to trash the Lightning and Yzerman, can't say anything bad about Team Canada's GM. They just gave up their top prospect and a Calder candidate for a goalie, 10 months after trading two seconds and a third for a goalie.

Not sure if anybody has noticed but every goalie has looked good for Ottawa this season (Anderson, Bishop, Lehner), lots of risk that Bishop looks like a starter in that system but has holes in Tampa Bay's no defence system (like Lindback).

I think you mean Brian, not Doug...

While I'm not sure I'd want CSI Melnyk as my owner, I'd agree that Brian Murray has done a pretty great job in Ottawa. I'm having a hard time seeing how anyone thinks Tampa Bay won this trade hands down. Sure, they got a good goaltending prospect, but Conacher is a Calder Trophy nominee for sure. He's 2nd in rookie scoring, 1 point behind Huberdeau.

I'd call that a pretty great return for your 3rd string goalie.

Bryan murray is a magician.

their 3 year rebuild was accelerated to 1 year, and yet they still are getting top end young talent without changing their course (ie. this deal, the turris deal).

I agree but like Iginla, he's on the wrong side of 30. I don't know exactly what they have in their pipeline for youth, but it seems like a big piece to give up for someone is not a "bonafide" #1.

I guess it's a potential for potential deal.
