Alex Tanguay - Will he be here in October
Just listening to Maher on the Fan, and he is suggesting there may not a lot of interest in Tanguay due to the long term on his deal.
Will he get moved? If not, will he be bought out?
I can't imagine a scenario where he is here in October.

To be honest, I like Tanguay, but I'm ready to flip the page on that era of the Flames. Move him to L.A and play him with Sutter or something.

tanguay has sucked for 2 years now, why would anyone want him 3 years from now?
people claim tanguay has this great contract. i just don't see it. The amount seems reasonable, the term is brutal considering the lack of quality player he has already become at this stage in his career.

Why would the Flames buy him out? It's not like they need the cap space at this point. The most likely scenario is him being here in October, and him being here until his contract runs out. Why would that be difficult to imagine?

I'm happy to see Tanguay stay. I think he has a lot to offer mentoring the younger guys, and we need a top-six body to weather the storm so we can at least win a few games. And it's not like his contract is going to impede us going forward that much.

Think he would be a good candidate for a buyout. Can't imagine anyone interested in trading for him with three years left on his deal.
He is definitely still a quality player, just not a great contract and he doesn't have much use in Calgary anymore.

Tanguay has a terrible contract. Not suprising no team would want him
I used to really like the guy but now he makes 10 bonehead plays at the blueline every game. He ususally chips in on the score sheet once a game, and as a result is our leading scorer, but he is part of the problem and not the solution.
His points are more the result of Hartley giving him ridiculous ice time. I haven't seen him make one of his sick Tanguay-like plays all year. Still can't see him being bought out though, so I guess he will be here for his contract

he's definitely a decent vet but at the same time, he seems awefully pouty when things aren't going his way or if he doesn't get to play the role he wants.

He won't garner much interest anyways so you keep him around to be an experienced leader for the youth coming on the roster.

No way he is a buyout contract. Not even close.
If the Flames can unload Tanguay for a return that makes sense, they will do so. If the market doesn't present them an opportunity, then Tanguay sticks around. He is used to playing against top lines out there, isn't a bad PK'er, and does have very good skill. You need guys like him.
He may not be a 'preference' to have at this point going forward, but I really don't see him as a guy you HAVE to unload at any cost. If there is an opportunity, I am sure he will be traded. If not, he will play out his time here until there is such an opportunity.

You guys realize the Flames can't trade the whole team right? We still need players.

If he could just snap out of it and play hard, I think he could be a good player to retain for a couple more years to be the playmaker along side the young guys and core going forward.

We don't need cap space for 3 years, we need to have some players on the team. For sure not a buyout this year. In 2014 with 2 years left he might get bought out if we need room to go after a top UFA but this year he stays.
On the other hand his contract is not the type you see on a contending team and is only okay on a rebuilding team so I don't think he has much value. So he stays on the team next year for sure. 2014 maybe.

I believe in the Jays.

Yes he will be. He's pretty good value for dollars and the team still needs legitimate NHL talent. I mean if we get offered something we can't refuse for him then you of course move him but otherwise there is no pressure point (expiring contract, cap pressure, etc. etc.) forcing a move.

I don't like his laissez faire attitude.
Flames need guys that HATE to lose.
A guy like Tanguay around kids will ruin them, turn them into work to rule losers.
