But in this case, they basically had a deal in place with Boston and Iggy picked Pittsburgh at the last second.

A little trigger happy on Aaron Ward's part, but a very legitimate rumour that by all accounts was basically going to happen imminently until Iggy chose Pitt.
Not sure why we are derailing this thread, but there absolutely wasn't no confirmation that Iginla had been traded, and Ward reported it as if it was confirmed.

I'm guessing because he was watching Piere LeBrun say earlier that he wouldn't be surprised if he was next to go as teams always go for depth D at this time of year.

Took that and ran with it ......

A 3rd rounder would be an absolute steal. Another $2 million off of the cap as well.

Disagree
If Regher can get 2 seconds, Sarich should be good for one

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.

No idea who this is, but Feaster should be sainted if he can make this happen.
No way we get a 3rd... right?

That would be amazing.

Oh man if we get a 3rd for Sarich, awesome. I see the value of gettin a guy like Sarich but he's not worth a 3rd

If this is true I'm pretty excited, it'll be a fun draft if we add a few more picks tomorrow as well

This would make the Hawks an even better team, I think they come out of the west.... unless the ducks get Stajan, than the haks would have take Cammy and the ducks would then have to get Babchuck so the hawks would go afterTangs and the ducks would have to go after Butler. It'll be close....

We got Max Reinhart in the 3rd round and he looks like a decent prospect. If we can turn Sarich into a pick like Reinhart, I'll be a happy guy.

Gillies is looking like a nice pick and was a 3rd rounder as well

Come to think of it, Calgary's third round picks haven't been that bad. They've got Gillies, Reinhart, Bouma, Ryder (minus his issues), Prust, Lombardi all in the third round. Not bad.

Then again, the Flames also got Leach, Howse, Negrin, Armstrong, Marvin, Baldwin, Boyd in the third round and they don't look like much.

Ah yes, but once we realized Boyd was going to be a terrible player, we flipped him for a pick which turned out to be Bill Arnold - so I'd say we can get a pass with that one for now

I'd say Hawks or Rangers would make sense, NYR because as it was reported earlier, they are still looking to acquire a Dman.

No idea who the source is, but you'd have to think it's legit...why waste time on a Cory Sarich trade rumour?

How is that being anything other than a downer?

I'll try to be an upper and remind everyone that Sarich has been a healthy scratch and good for him to get back in the playoffs where he is a very useful player.

I am curious why Stanley Cup contenders will be interested in acquiring players who can't even crack the lineup for arguably the worst team in the league...
