I don't think he's still around at 15, but if he is, and you're a Calgary team starved for Centers, you gotta take him, no doubt.

I thought he was a center too. But after doing a little research, turns out he is a winger.

From what I have read, he plays C/LW.

Nichushkin probably won't be there, he'll likely get taken where Grigorenko was taken last year. BUT

We could get one of Mantha, Domi, or Wennberg all of which I really like

I know absolutely nothing about the guy, but something doesnt seem right about using a 1st round pick to draft the progeny of one of the biggest mouth breathers in NHL history.

Definitely this year. By all accounts, it is a deep draft. Plus, if you happen to get a Top 3 pick, then you can package Stl/Pit to maybe do a Burke and draft Mac/Drouin.

This is my view on draft picks in a "rebuild":

The sooner they're picked, the sooner they'll play.

Phoenix did it last year and it seems like a good move

Interestingly enough, St. Louis only keeps their fourth round pick if they make the playoffs and lose in the first round. If they miss the playoffs, it goes to Calgary. If they advance past the first round, it goes to Buffalo.

The more you know!

Would it be wise to trade up? What if we trade the 30th and the 15th (hypotheticaly) for another top 10? Would you guys risk a second 1st round guy for a more talented guy???

That will probably be a quick reaction at the draft.

If we can trade up with the extra picks and get two solid centers, for example MacKinnon with our pick and Lindholm/Monahan with another ... I would do it every time.

Granted, I don't think we move into 5th or 6th pick territory with two mid to late firsts. Maybe we can hit around 10th.

Depends if we get another late first/second round pick tomorrow/next day

If we have 4 picks in the first 60, then I would move the 15th and the 30th for say the 9th/10th/11th pick. If we only have three I would keep them both and select a solid player at #30

Blues have the easiest schedule compared to 9th place Edmonton and 10th place Columbus

8 of the Blues remaining 14 games vs non-playoff teams; 8 home games; 3 back-to-back
4 of the Oilers remaining 13 games vs non-playoff teams; 7 home games; 3 back-to-back
4 of the Jackets remaining 12 games vs non-playoff teams; 4 home games; 3 back-to-back

If Blues miss the playoffs because of the Oilers or the Jackets, the Flames should still get their 2013 1st round pick IMO because that's just pathetic

With all this moving picks talk, so tabs actually move down 10 places by combining picks? I honestly don't know, but I doubt it

If they miss, we have a shot at a lottery pick. If they don't, we don't. Fail, Blues, fail! And then fail even more next season!

The Blues surprised everyone this year with TERRIBLE goaltending, and I can see one of their 3 having a strong rebound next season and getting back in stride.

So I really hope they squeak in this year and get bounced. However, if the goaltending we saw this year continues AND they loose RFAs AND Stewart year is an aberration and not the norm... that pick next year could be high.

More than likely though, they'll be building off this year.

Squeaking into 8th or 7th they will face Hawks & Ducks. Likely early exit for the Blues.

I would love to see that contract.

"4. The St. Louis Blues shall retain their pick in the 2013 entry draft if they fail to make the playoffs.

5. If the St. Louis Blues fail to make the playoffs pursuant to S.4, and either or both of the Edmonton Oilers or the Columbus Blue Jackets make the playoffs in that year, the pick shall move to the Flames in 2013, because that's #@$&ing pathetic."
