He basically said tonight he's failed at what he set out to do. He basically said in his own words he's not a good talent evaluator when he says he overestimated. His coaching hire has been an epic failure as the Flames play 80's style hockey with no defense getting torched nightly. I have no idea what he's selling Flames ownership in private but I simply don't see how they could have any confidence moving into an important rebuild with a guy that has struck out so many times.

He can do this deadline. If he can get us a fourth first rounder, that would be awesome. Then he can leave and never come back.

His drafting has seemed okay so far, just not happy with his trades

Fester seems to have misunderstanding what prospects actually are.

Wonder with all the picks Feaster acquires, will Flames ownership fire him before the draft and bring in Burke or someone else too take over.

Won't be the first time there is a new GM in June...Button and Sutter though the former was still working for Dallas or whatever. Luckily they got Krahn out of it anyways.

Don't you mean Weisbrod and the rest of the scouting staff? They all have a say in what prospects are taken in any trade.

Indeed.

Feaster may be awful at making trades, but he's also getting a lot of suggestions from Weisbrod and Button.

This team really needs Burke.

I hope he gets fired before the draft. It's not like a new GM couldn't come in here and identify our holes in a week. We could really turn things around this draft but I don't trust this group not to try to be clever and #### it up.

I can't even be excited that we've moved on at this point because I have no faith in these people, and it really really sucks

We need to do what Montreal did.

They brought in Bergevin during the off-season, before the draft.

And right now, it looks like they had one hell of a draft.

I disagree with Feaster being awful. Having to deal with players with NTC's makes it difficult for any GM to get the best value for his player. We can argue till hell freezes over wether the prospects are good or not but getting a couple of 1st rounds picks to add to our own is good in itsef. And it's not as if Feaster was going to be able to get another teams top 6 forward in return.

What this team needs is a bright hockey mind like Davidson and not Burke. Burke was the one that wanted to trade for Luongo's ridiculous contract. I hope to god he never ends up here.

Burke wanted no part in trading for Luongo's ridiculous contract. He's always been against those types of deals and would never have made that trade.

The GM doesn't have a lot of input at the draft table. They tend to leave the selection up to the scouts and people who have seen the players and evaluated them. GM's get way too much credit for the draft and take too much heat when it sucks.

Yeah probably. Ken King probably doesn't want to risk bringing in a guy like Burke who wouldn't accept meddling.

As said in another thread, the 2 (soon to be 3) larger contracts will be gone, so he better make something out of the peices he has left to deal/dump before Wed. afternoon and he has little excuses not to.

In a buyers market as it clearly is this season, a guy like Stempniak, who's played well and proven to be streaky, should be worth something more then the summer or any other time, as an example.

Interest in Tanguay, Cammalleri, yes even still Glencross, Sarich, Babchuk, Comeau...almost everyone, should be thought of to move on and get peices from teams that need players and will bring back a better than expected return. You've dumped 2 HOF'er, don't stop now, but also, realize that the market should be getting pretty desperate to add that goal scorer to play second line minutes or tough defenseman as a 7-8 guy.

Dump the cap room, get the picks and prospects, and deal what you've got with it when May 1st comes around. Feaster has no excuses not to get rid of these guys, having good salaries and terms, and little reason for wanting to stay here if they do have NMC's.

I did some digging and it looks like I made an error

Kessel or Seguin...which would you rather have?

Given that the Bruins are so deep at centre that Seguin doesn't even play it, all things being equal I'd say it's probably a wash. If they were making the same amount of money, Kessel might actually be more useful to the Bruins, seeing as what he brought forced them to go acquire Nathan Horton. So who'd you rather have, Horton or Kessel?

Kessel stats last 3 years:
32G 32A 64P
37G 45A 82P
10G 24A 34P (As of APril 1 2013)

Seguin stats last 3 years:
11G 11A 22P
29G 38A 67P
11G 14A 25P (As of April 1, 2013)

This isn't Phaneuf vs Ian White we're talking about here.

Wouldn't say 100% safe. It has to go above King though to change.

Edwards has to be mindful for his own reputation not only as a successful oilman, but moreso within the league ranks, ranks that he's certainly trying to gain foothold in, by seeing his team reduced to a laughing stock. He is partially to blame, but I think those below him share as much or more of that day to day mess that its in operationally.

If he realizes this/is forced to realize the reputation this team is gaining/losing under his watch, he can make the changes sooner then later, and the organization, top to bottom, can start to move on from this mess IMO.
