I was thinking of starting a "Who Wants to give Bouwmeester a lift to the airport?" thread.

We ARE dealing with reality here, folks --- dropping salary, all of it in JayBo's case is HUGE for this team. That provides them with ample opportunity to hit the FA market on July 1.
That, in and of itself, is a big change.
|
See, the problem (at least for me) is looking at some of the historical returns for players of the same caliber that have been sold on the market this year. Yes, I get that values change, but under no circumstances would I believe that these have been fair market values for JayBo and Iggy.

LOL, Cundari is already being called 'fat' because he is 5'10" and 200lbs. Two inches taller and he would have been considered a dman with size. Oh no, how will he fill the shoes of our great #1 dman who 90% of the forum crap on, on a nightly basis. Some posters think it's just Feaster who has locked himself in a room and making all the decisions. It's a management decision from pro scouts to Conroy to Weisbrod giving their input.
Anyways, excited about Flames possibly having 3 first round picks this year or 2 first rounders next year.

Not to mention that it's only one year left on his contract. Are they hoping to be a cap team next year, and spend max dollars on whoever is available next summer regardless of quality? I sincerely hope not. If that were an option in this trade and it was declined from our side I would be pissed. If St. Louis didn't want to do that, that's not really up to us at this point.

We are rebuilding so is there a point in signing UFAs? They're all old.
Do you trust Feaster with another offer sheet?

Feaster must be a big shopper at Wal-Mart and Superstore, buying up all the Presidents Choice, Great Value, and other no name brands.

few things people need to remember
1) Bouwmeester had a NTC, who knows what happened behind the scene even with a broader list
2) His contract was an anchor in a cap that was going to go down

"No name" means nothing. What the hell do you mean what does Jay see that others don't?
You do realize the Blues drafted and signed these guys before right???

St. Louis is wise knowing Bouwmeester guarantees they miss the playoffs, thus making it a 4th. Detroit passed cause they'd like to make it. Honestly though pretty solid return, the for sale sign is on the door obviously.

Feaster is high up on Berra.
Flames scouts said last summer Berra and Ramo were the two best goalies outside the NHL.

Feaster: the goaltender made a big difference. One of the two top goalies not in the NHL (other is Ramo)

Flames need to really stop trying to outsmart everyone in the hockey world with these types of off the chart type pick ups/draft picks
