I absolutely hate the conditional 1st. The whole point was to get another potential lottery pick.
Better return than Iginla my ass...
I hope that's it from Feasted. We'll end up trading Giordano or Glencross for a 2nd and some prospect from Uzbekistan.

The 1st is conditional too... turns into a 2014 1st if the Blues do not make the playoffs.

I would still rather have quality over quantity. Why does it always have to be 2 mid grade prospects?

Are the Flames in financial trouble? Why so against taking on a bit of salary especially sinc we are well below the cap now?

I laugh at the goofs saying that this trade is good because Bouwmeester is off the team so we'll be better.
Bouwmeester was the only d-man outside Brodie who actually played defense this year, none of the other 4 do.
This just guarantees we get MacKinnon, because we're going to be a bad team without Bouw, much worse than we were with him.

fine, just wait till TSN, Sportnet etc. analyze this, and come to the same damn conclusion that the majority of CP did, we got ripped minus the 1st round pick.
Hockey may not be every person on CP's job, but most of us spend a lot of time researching and watching hockey of all levels. I'd say we (collectively) have a pretty good understanding on how good or bad a trade is.
The fact that Jay Feaster (a Lawyer btw) couldnt even pry Rattie + 1st out of St. Louis just shows his incompetence. Bouw's value, especially at the deadline and with another season on his contract, should have been higher.

Either way, it's a first at some point. So if they miss the playoffs this year Flames have to wait until the 2014 draft to use their pick. But they still get a 4th for this year, should St. Louis miss the big dance.
This rebuild won't happen overnight. Next season could be rough to watch. But if you have the money and the picks then you're sitting pretty.

Can we get a moratorium on emotional outburst posts when these deals are coming down?
A 1st round pick in this year's draft is like GOLD. Feaster now has THREE of them. Calgary has never had more than one 1st round pick in a single year.
I am thrilled with the way things are going, and hope he's able to continue down this path by trading Tanguay, Cammy, Glencross and Giordano for firsts/seconds as well.
Move guys like Butler, Sarich, Smith, Babchuk and Jackman for late picks and head into this offseason with a ridiculous opportunity to have one of the BEST pools of prospects in the entire league.
If any of these "throw-in" prospects turn out, that's great, but the meat of these deals are the stellar players we are about to draft into this organization. Everyone take a deep breath and prepare yourself for an awesome offseason revolving around around kids with some serious talent.
Feaster is moving guys that have managed as a group to lay claim to the worst record in the NHL. Getting firsts for any of these guys is a fantastic return, not to mention that he's doing it with guys that all have NTCs. He should be commended for what he's doing, it's LONG overdue.

Im a big fan of getting prospects and keeping your system stocked, however it seems like we are just going for projects and longshots. 1st rounders are nice too, we just so happen to be the team that burns through them like candy. Hope they reverse the trend and get solid picks with every last 1st rounder we use.Basically we are trading our best players for seeds at this point. It can go either way.

Any chance Hartley saw something in Reto Berra when he was coaching over there and playing against him? I think he did...no clue. Going out on a limb.

Significantly better return than the Iggy trade. Cundari will play in the NHL (he may not stick, but he will play), and the 1st rounder will probably be 10 spots higher than the Penguins 1st rounder
Still an underwhelming return because Feaster is a crappy GM that is unable to get other GM's to give up full value

He was misused by Brent Sutter.

Honestly don't really care about the prospects. The firsts are key to me as the flames may have the ability to get two picks in the top 8. In my ideal world, we take BPA with the first pick - hopefully Drouin. Then we snag our center with the second pick - Monahan or Lindholm.
And then all of a sudden the future would look very bright.

Even with these 1st rounders, I don't trust Feaster and crew with them, like really? Trade our two biggest bargaining chips and you return 4 no-name prospects?

BTW, Eklund just reported it now . . . This after reporting that Detroit was still interested in him AFTER Dreg called the trade.
What a complete loser.

Use that cap space in the fall when teams need to get under the cap and get picks back for it.
