I wanted Schwartz/a prospect I've heard of! Feaster is horrible. I could see Feaster leaving after all this is over, be the guy that trades everyone off, take all the heat, then bring in someone else, (BURKE?!). Although Cudari is suppose to be good, apparently.

I think people need to wait and see what is done with the picks and cap space. With the cap coming down buy outs are possible and players being available that normally would not be. Maybe the firsts are used to move up in the draft, or moved for players other teams need to dump for salary reasons...... Lets just see how this plays out.

Ya the Flames ownership eating 2 mil and making the trade better would have been nice but they showed with the Kotalik deal that they are unwilling to do that.

Feaster, god dammit.

Regehr's contract is only until the end of this season. Bouw's contract was an albatross. Who cares about the prospects? You couldn't have expected more with the Blues taking on all that salary?
With the payroll space and a stocked farm system, the organization can turn things around a lot sooner. Sam Pollock could've come back from the dead and not made a better deal here.

Pierre Lebrun mentioned on TSN that the Blues wanted the Flames to eat some of Bouwmeester's salary. Probably why the return was lower than even the media types expected.

They dropped 6.8 on the cap but also lost a #1 all around defenseman who was dominant this year.
What will they use the capspace on?

Not a terrible deal. The fact we aren't retaining any salary is pretty big. I would have preferred it if we did though, if it would have netted a better prospect.
Cundari looks like a decent player to take a flyer on though. His numbers in junior and the minors have been good. He is short, but being 180lbs at 5'9" suggests he might have some power.
Looking at his youtube highlights, it looks like he plays with a bit of a chip on his shoulder.

But I thought Reggie was an over the hill over paid dud? Two seconds is pretty impressive value... What did we get? Exactly? Byron and butler?! Not to mention us giving up a second and kotalik as part of that trade

I can't wait until the draft, and the reaction on the board when we draft projected 3rd and 4th round players with our 3 1st round picks

Well if this draft is like 03, then any three first round picks will be good for at least a couple of good players.

Didn't Bouwmeester have a no-movement or no-trade clause? I'm sure that's been mentioned in the other thread but I didn't wade in there too thoroughly.
If he did, then that's another obstacle Feaster had to contend with.

Bouwmeester was really good in the first 20 games or so but he never dominated. He played great hockey for 20 of his 250 games as a Flame.

The pick is interesting because if the Blues get in - they likely will be one of the lowest seeds - so it will be a high lottery pick. That's as good as you can do, because teams looking to add at this time of year don't have high picks.
At 16th pick in this draft is probably value wise similar to a pick in the 9-12 range last year.

Obviously don't know anything about the prospects, but my initial reaction to the return is one of disappointment. On one hand, Jbo was a plug for 90% of his time here. On the other hand, it's trade deadline and he's been playing like a boss so far this season...
