Tonight will likely be Kipper's last start as a Flame... nobody left from the 2004 squad...

No chance Toronto even considers this. They wouldn't even consider it if we were sending them the third rounder instead of the other way. Not for an insurance policy.

Pat Steinberg ‏@Fan960Steinberg 16s Kiprusoff report is now confirmed by our @JSportsnet. If Kiprusoff starts tonight, good indication more leg work needs to be done. #Flames

Crazy to think that he's the last remaining one from that team. Unreal.

Has it been clarified if the discussions are regarding an extension or just if he'll report?

Well . . . Technically Corey Sarich is from the 2004 squad, just wearing the different colours

He is an absolute blowhard and clueless about teams other than the Leafs. The worst columnist related to NHL hockey.

I dunno... sounds like a fair deal for us for a 36 year old, 5M+ Cap hit player who might retire next year with a .873 sv%. I know I wouldn't expect much more then that.

I'm keeping my expectations low in any event.

I'm torn cause I want him to get a deal to a team where he can play in the playoffs too but I hope he starts one last time and steals the show while he does it.

Kipper for a 2013 2nd (assuming Leafs have one) is my guess *if* this goes down. Don't see why Flames would bother accepting anything less, don't see Leafs offering anything more.
Someone suggested in another thread a 2nd plus Colborne. If only.

I don't think we will get much for Kipper. I'd say a 2nd at best. Better than nothing though.

Didn't kipper cost us a second (Vlasic) seems kinda fitting he would garner the same return. He's older now, was injured this season and has subpar numbers. I'd be happy with the 2nd and think anything on top is an added bonus.

This would be the definition of selling low
As opposed to him walking at the end of the season to Finland because he's had enough and doesn't want to play for peanuts in front lf a rebuilding team?

An asset is an asset and is better than nothing. All the people crying about how we are going to be ripped off need a reality check. Goalie market sucks at the best of times, take what asset(s) you can get and run. People are talking Finn, think Blacker.
