You'd think he'd go for more then a 3rd rounder.. Frickin' Handzus got a 4th rounder.

Actually, this is about the complete opposite of Kipper wanting out. This is about the Leafs trying to convince Kipper to agree to a trade, and to report to Toronto.
Calgary wants an asset, Toronto wants a goaltender. Even though he doesn't have an NMC, both organizations are treating him like he does, and trying to work an arrangement with him.

With the way he has played this year paired with his age it's not surprising. The Flames missed the boat on Iggy and Kipper by two years.

yeah I 'm not a huge fan of the way Kipper has played (in general) the last few years, and probably rate him lower than many; but don't really see the reason to rush into a deal such as the one above-while I think the team would survive it frankly; the optics for Feaster et al (not that I care much about them) would be pretty bad on such a deal; and not really sure it addresses much?

I would be very happy with Matt Finn and 2nd round pick if Kipper extends contract.
Matt Finn is a former NCAA prospect.

We might as well keep him and have Kipper and Ramo split the starts next year. He ISN'T going to retire!

I think the Flames should hold onto Kipper unless Scrivens is coming the other way. Next year would be such a gamble if Scrivens wasn't a part of the deal. Ramo, Taylor, Ortio? Sign a veteran in the off-season?

Anyone EXPECTING more than a 2nd rounder is on crack, imo. a goalie that has played VERY bad this year, with rumors of him retiring has very little trade value. a 2nd and a prospect would be MORE than expected.

I'm about as big a Kipper fan as they come and I don't think he'll fetch a 1st. A 2nd and a prospect is more likely.

Please note that any statement by Damien Cox can be immediately ignored as utterly ######ed. If there were people we could ban from twitter or better yet any mention in media of any kind he'd be on the list. One of the worst people in hockey.

No, he won't.
Goaltenders really don't give great returns. Especially not old goaltenders with pretty brutal numbers. The Leafs are trying to acquire Kipper as an insurance policy, nothing more, and his cost to acquire will reflect that.
Personally, if they can convince him, I expect nothing more than a 3rd rounder. If we get anything more, we did well.

Please be something around Matt Finn... don't forget that you really liked him at the draft, Weisbrod.

Worth noting at June draft Canucks could've had Kadri, Bozak and a pick for Luongo. Got greedy. Now have lost as many as have won.
