Man I'd just love to see Kipper and Dion smash Iggy and the Pens. That would make for some historic headlines in Calgary.

so lets say this is true, they extend him. Would Kipper not be worth more in a trade if he was extended?

Wonder what the asking price is for Kipper? Blacker or Finn and a 2nd would be reasonable value IMO.

Keenan also didn't have a vested interest in the situation like Dreger whose cousin is the GM of the Leafs does. If Dreger reports something on the Leafs it's because Nonis wants it reported.

Yes, a little bit. But he's been so poor this season I don't think you'll get a lot for him either way.
I had always just assumed Kipper would retire after this season, so if Feaster can get anything at all for him it's better than a wasted asset. I like the idea of a pick or prospect then perhaps an additional conditional pick if Toronto can sign him to an extension.

Keenan was the coach when we signed kipper to the deal he has right now and said that the feeling was kipper was never going to play the final year of the deal.

The regular season is a completely different game compared to the playoffs. They'd be eaten alive against the Pens, no playoff hockey in 8 years paired with a team that has just anted all-in and I say the Pens would win in 5, 6 tops.

It's being reported because they are after luongo, and are using kipper ton drive the price down.

That doesn't answer my question though. When did Keenan say he was signing an extension?
It was rumored by Darren Dreger. What does Keenan have anything to do with it?

Kipper's never lost a series where 5 games were played.
He'll keep them in in the game for sure, it's just that Leafs need to continue scoring at the rate they are and beat them with their own fire power - they're 3rd in the league in goals scored.
If Fleury melts down like he has the past 4 playoffs, then I like the Leafs chances. I think they lose to Boston for sure though.

Good for him; I presume that as long as Kiprusoff enjoys playing the game, there's no real reason for him to avoid signing another contract and pocketing 12-14 million extra dollars. He's still a quality NHL goalie, and he's sick playing in front of a team he knows is garbage.

And it's in Toronto's best interest for Vancouver to believe the Leafs have options outside of Luongo.

You are misunderstanding.
Keenan said he expected him to retire. The poster was commenting on going from Keenan's opinion as of a couple of weeks ago to this latest suggestion that an extension is in the cards.
Keenan doesn't have anything to do with the second point, the poster was noting they are polar opposites from so-called insiders
