I guess that hinges upon 2 things.
1. Is Toronto considered one of Buffalo's main rivals? Being in the same division does not always mean that teams consider themselves rivals. I'm actually not sure about the answer to this.
2. Is Miller a face of the franchise in Buffalo and what do fans think of him now? I think he is a face of the franchise, so it might be tough to have to see him against the home team 6 times per year. Not sure, however, what fans think of him now.
Basically would trading Miller to Toronto be equal to the Flames trading Iginla to Vancouver (main rival, face of franchise, no go) or is it more like trading Glencross to San Jose (important piece, but not franchise player, same division next year, but not main rival, so it would be considered OK).

Honestly, if he can be turned into any asset, it would be a bonus.

Amazing how badly asset management has been on this team, just astonishing to see the return on Kipper and Iggy for two all-world players a few years ago.

It's because of the desire to be a 8th seeded team, these trades should have happened years ago.
That being said, with all the rumors saying we wouldn't blow it up, I'm glad they have realized this organization and direction was in shambles, and we are rectifying it.

Hmm, so he might not be retiring after all? Probably depends on what his situation will be.

Why would the Leafs be interested in Kipper? They've got 2 good young goalies who have played excellent for most of the season. It makes no sense to me, but hey if they want him then I say we do it in a heart beat.

The only way I see a player of Kippers age having a god awefull season get any kind of return in a trade is if it was intirely conditional, ie the Flames take on the risk, say a sliding scale from 3rd round to first depending on his performance, playoff success and resigning.
Without this no GM worth his title would touch him, so short of Feaster mistakenly trading Kipper back to the Flames (and even then he'd probably balls up the paperwork and the league would nix it) I don't see anything happening.

I agree. Even if Kipper reverts back to Kipper of old, they are still not going to win the cup. Same goes for Luongo.
The youngsters have gotten them this far. Might as well see if they have what it takes to be a playoff goalie. If they fail, they can overpay for Luongo or another goalie in the summer.

If there is a reason - it would be that Kipper has shown in the past that he is capable of stealing wins and series.
If you think he still has that in there - you may be willing to give up a nominal cost to acquire him.
The Leafs aren't going to surprise anyone with their current goaltenders.

Thought I read/heard somewhere Miller was only interested in a west coast team.

The leafs goaltending has been ok at best. The goalies haven't cost them many games but they haven't stolen them any. The leafs NEED to make the playoffs. If they bring in Kipper, he becomes the #1 guy and I think the team gains a little more confidence, dion will probably sing his praises too. If the leafs want a hope at getting out of the first round, they HAVE to upgrade their goaltending

That's actually a really good idea.
I'd set the base as a 2nd, and if they re-sign him, then it becomes a first rounder in 2013 or 2014.

I think Miller will end up on the wings next year.

I don't think he needs to worry about a no-trade clause if he's resigning. You can't trade someone after they retire.

Dreger to me and @TSNDaveNaylor: "The Kiprusoff train is rolling between Dave Nonis and Jay Feaster right now, it really is." Talked today.
Dreger also said the Leafs would prefer to extend Kiprusoff by a year or two. Hmmmmm.

Bruce Arthur @bruce_arthur 13s Last thought from @DarrenDreger: understanding is Kiprusoff would be interested by Toronto, and open to a deal. Family not an impediment.
