I'm still watching the game but I'm scared to watch halftime.
I think it's considered worse because it doesn't happen in basketball since it's a non-contact game and basketball players wear shorts so you saw the break (not hidden by pants or socks or anything).

I ended up watching the replay. It wasn't as scary to watch as I thought it would be, but pretty bad nonetheless. Probably because they didn't show a replay close enough.

Yeah I just did too.
Never seen a injury like this in basketball. Football and soccer yes... but not basketball.
Seen broken ankles in basketball, players landing on other players but never a leg injury of a player going out of bounds on his own. Just awful.

Yeah the closeup one, which was the first - when I think the guys in the truck didn't realize how nasty it was - that I saw.
Leg going several different directions, none of them natural. L'ville players were laying on the floor in shock.

Worse thing it, it happened right in front of their bench

how does that even happen in basketball? looked like a routine jump, i could see maybe breaking an ankle with a bad landing but to snap the entire leg in half is bizarre

Jesus, I was watching the game, went and had a shower, came back out and they were showing Paterno and others crying, I was like wtf? whatever happened must've happened right after I left as there was only 2 more points on the board. I didn't even know what happened but then saw them wheel the guy out and I figured it was his leg as it was all splinted up. I'm glad I didn't see it, I hate seeing broken bones.

Despicable 2nd half by half.
Good to see Kelly go if that is all he has to offer.
Crappy way to end what should have been a much better season. Hopefully with Parker coming in next year things will go better.

So I believe we're down to just three possible outcomes in our brackets:
If Louisville advances to the final game, Tobacco Road Hitchhikers is the winning bracket.
If Louisville loses, and Michigan advances in the other game, Dave B's Dazzling Bracket is the winner.
If Louisville loses, and Syracuse advances in the other game, Bracket of Failure is the winning bracket.

It was as if a giant man had just snapped his shin in half as if it were a twig. Bizarre indeed.

Klein said a team of doctors was being assembled. Ware underwent surgery Sunday night, during which he had the bone re-set and a rod placed in his right tibia.

He's got 12-18 months to go.

sound like he'll make a full recovery, which after looking at close-up pictures is hard to believe
Quote:
PROGNOSIS: Dr. Reed Estes, assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and physician for the UAB football team, said surgery to stabilize the bones in such cases is usually successful and Ware should return next season. Louisville coach Rick Pitino said the injury was the same one sustained by former Louisville running back Michael Bush, who has returned to have a productive NFL career with Oakland and Chicago.

I've been hearing/reading all night that this is generally easier to come back from than a severe knee injury, asked my dad who's a doctor and he agrees. Bone regrows and ligaments don't, I guess.

I live in Louisville and was watching the game at a local bar. When Ware's leg snapped a girl sitting two stools down from me threw up her appetizer right back into the basket. The bar was completely quiet for about 30 seconds afterwards.
Strange thing was that by the end of the game it was like it never happened. Everybody back slapping and cheering at traffic.

Pretty fun Final 4 this is shaping up to be. Have my doubts about the Shockers being able to keep the game close but they've had a hard road as any imo...
Pitt is solid. Really only 1 bad loss to Rutgers all year. Tempo free offense and defense stats very good albeit misleading.
I'm probably in the minority but I still think Gonzaga is a top 5 team.
La Salle is fine. Tough if they are hitting shots and Shockers D didn't let that happen.
Ohio State had won 11 games (including MSU x2, Indiana, Wisconsin and Arizona) in a row.
Syracuse and Michigan both had games against easy opponents Montana and Florida respectively. Partially kidding about Florida, but I just never saw that team play well. Main reason being is that when they were playing well they weren't in close games so I wouldn't watch.
Anyways now I'm rambling. I'm fine with anyone winning.
Wichita would be awesome for the biggest underdog.
Louisville would be awesome cause I'll win a few pools + Ware + I think this team is pretty special.
Michigan would be great because this game made me fall in love with the tournament (yeah I'm a kid). I like Beilein.
And if Syracuse wins hopefully that pushes Boeheim closer to retirement.
Go close games go.

I was thinking the opposite I have no interest in the Final 4, but that may be because I am finding myself becoming more of a Duke fan than college basketball fan. I didn't watch the tournament last year after they were knocked out and after watching as much as I could early on this year have no interest.
Not sure if it is just me getting older and less time or the lack of star players/teams.

I am looking forward to hearing Pitino's take on Wichita State.

Have you seen this team play dude? I'm just wondering what your take on them was before the tourney started, I remember reading your posts about the MVC and it seemed like you thought Creighton was the shining star in the region (I did too). Did they show potential throughout the season or are they just playing out of their minds right now?
