Call it a gut feeling, but I think Mach really wants Bouwmeester traded.

NJ doesn't seem like a great fit - you'd hope NJ is going to have to contribute a real stud prospect if they don't even have a 1st and Larsson is the only guy I really covet from their roster/prospect list who I imagine is untouchable. Merrill looks OK as well I guess.
I'd assume a Bouw return would be quite good given his remaining term and play this year but I never would have called Iginla bringing in almost an early 2nd rounder and a couple of middling prospects even at his age so maybe best that we prepare for the worst.

So if those are the three teams for J-Bo, we won't get another 1st for this year for him, which sucks, because it would be great to package those two late picks for something better.

Well there is still a year until the Olympics and Team Canada would be crazy not to at least consider Bouwmeester.

Which Holland says he won't, and yes that could just be public statement. I hope that's the case because Detroit's 1st + Nyquist\Tatar\Jarnkrok is the most interesting to me. Although I'd be pretty alright with the package Incognito mentioned even though I'm not high on trading for a goalie at this point.

This is what I think Feaster should be looking at. If you could package a few more for 1-2 round picks you go into the draft with some real "juice"
Nothing but possibilities after that, and you have the resources to target and get the ones you really want.

Interesting, I hadn't heard that before (or missed it when posted).
If we don't get a 1st in the package, 2 prospects from any of the teams would be nice.
Detroit: Mrazek + one of the forwards (Jarnkrok?).

You go aftter Frk, ifg you have a chance at either of Drouin or Mckinnon, Frk is a guy you want too. Big body, can skate, sees the ice very well, bomb of a shot and can take draws. Oh, and has the chemistry with those 2 already.
Mckinnon or Drouin + Frk and Beartschi and Neiderieter or Rattie if possible... damn ...

Just to be clear, there was not a quote in that article that said Ken Holland wouldn't trade his first. Helene St James said it in the header, but there was no comment about it after that.
Since Ken Holland has more say than Helene St James, I am inclined to think he might consider it given the right deal (a top 2 D under contract for next year, perhaps).

I agree, try and get Frk from Detroit. Need to fill up the RW with some talented guys and he definitely is one. Especially considering we're likely going to end up with one of McKinnon or Drouin, can retain that chemistry.
I think if we offered DET that "top 4 defenseman" who is not a rental, they'll cough up their 1st. No first though, and that would be a deal breaker.

Both Detroit an St.Louis were seeking veteran puck movers. St. Louis picked up Leopold. There are 2 ways to spin it. Either Detroit is more desperate now, as they are competing with St. Louis for position this year, or they can stand firm, and hope desperate incompetent Feaster comes down to the price they offer.

From the article (Holland):
"I'm OK where we're at. Especially considering 20% of (the) roster has been out. And I'm not doing any rentals for fifth or sixth defensemen, or fourth-line players. If we can get a real player, a top-six forward or a top-four defenseman, at a price we can live with, who wouldn't do that? But I'm not doing any rentals."
So, I'm not sure where the first line of the story about not trading the first round pick comes from.

He would be great for the Martin "Frckn" Frk thread-title alone.

Not a chance Detroit moves Mrazek I think. He appears to be the heir apparent to Howard and is probably on the high side of value (making him likely to be overpaid for).
I love the guy, but I don't think it's a good idea to trade for him until he cools off a bit.
Frk is an interesting project pick, but probably not the type of guy Feaster will target. He's slow, takes Bourque or Glencross-esc penalties, and needs work on his hockey IQ overall. Tools are all there (and is a player I like), but since Feaster's mandate is smart, fast players, I don't see it happening.
